We have had 2 overnite stops heading to Phoenix. Each night we set up normally. Beside us both nights, overnighters like ourselves stayed hooked up and dropped all their landing gear. Is that a safe practice? and is there potential to damage parts of tv and trailer? Thanks! Kirt

Put a large toe tag on the steering wheel.

we have traveled across the US each summer for 6 years--NY to Wyoming-Montana or Utah and we travel hard--2000 miles in 2 1/2 days so we just stop at rest stops and never put our landing gear down---Usually stop around 10-11 PM and start at 6 AM---

I do tow a wee bit nose high, so I'd put about 4" of blocks under the rear jacks to be sure I didn't run out of stroke on them. Lyle

I just put front jacks barely touching to make it more stable

For overnight stops, as long as the sight is fairly level, we just park the rig and hook up to power. The stabilizing jacks stay up, one less thing to do in the morning when we pull out early.

We lower landing jacks till they hit the ground, if we try to use auto level it try to push the truck down a large amount to were it is scary, this because our trailer dips down in front 1st an then rises up to level...
I put tag on steering wheel to remind me that the landing gear is down an to make sure the
5th wheel is connected an still locked even though I pad lock my 5th wheel so no one can
pull the pin Safe Travels Chuck

WOW---Never thought to ck 5th wheel hitch---GOOD IDEA !!!!! There are people think it's funny to watch one being dropped, most commercial drivers are taught to check. Like chuck I drop a lock in to insure it stays closed plus the long shank gives me an attaching point for the break away cable.

Yes, I have heard tale's of hitches being pulled / released maliciously, so everything that's pullable / moveable is locked down in my truck.

Be sure to unhook your power from the TV when stopped for the night.
