Do any of you have a power cord reel in your fifth wheel? I have a friend who swears by his, and didn't mind losing the small footprint of storage. Being new to the 50 amp cord roll up and put away, I can see where the reel could be helpful. Curious what other opinions are.... Thanks, Kirt

I bought a manual reel. I didn't honestly want to shell out the cash for the power reel. I do absolutely love my manual reel. It makes putting that cord away so much easier.

I have been on Lippert site, they have a manual on sale 48.95. Cheapest one I have seen. I can truly see the benefit, just wanted some feedback! Thanks Kirt

I have 2 25' cords. The OEM cord is pretty stiff and I coil it in a milk crate. The Camco extension cord I bought (used) is nice'n flexible and I coil that one =inside= the OEM coil. Only bad part is having to lift the d@mn milk crate! :-)

If I understand the question you just want opinions on a cord reel for the power cord, not necessarily one that is controlled electrically but a manually operated one. If that's the case I wouldn't want to travel without one, I love mine. I went with a cheaper one from Harbor Freight and it doesn't take up much room at all. If you think about it, the cord has to go somewhere and it's going to take up some space some where. I think the reel is more compact and takes up less space. The HB one is $20 and has worked very well so far. only had it one season though. Maybe not as good as one that cost more but if your on a budget it works pretty good. I have mine mounted in the front corner. Here is a pic of the reel .

When I ordered my Durango, the electric cord reel was an option. After over 6 years of use I can't imagine not having one. So, I can't help you find and put in one, but as far as how great mine works, there are no downsides whatsoever.

I love my cord reel. It's a manual one and I got it from the MorRyde rep at the rally in 2018. It makes putting the cord up a lot easier than trying to manhandle it. It costs a bit more than some of the ones mentioned here but I love it. I don't think you would regret getting one.

midlotexan You will never regret getting the cord reel. ours like a few others is a manual MorRyde reel. It makes putting the cord up a lot easier than trying to manhandle it. The MorRyde costs a bit more than some of the ones mentioned here ...
I can say that MorRyde supports there product very well, my reel was getting loose an the MorRyde rep
gave me new shims an clips along with a few extra's just in case mine got loose again back at the 2017
Kz rally ... This year at the Kz rally he check to make sure my reel was working correctly an ask if I
needed any more shims an clips, I said i'm good, he handed me a few an said "just in Case laughing" ... Safe Travels Chuck

Well, had a beautiful day here in DFW, decided to install new cord reel. In my 366, the back screws would have gone in main frame or through areas sealed under trailer. I chose a different way to install it. I cut a piece of 1/2 inch plywood 14"x28" and attached to 3 cross members in the top of storage area. Then used 9 drywall screws (3) in each cross member. Then I attached reel upside down, with screws through the plywood. This puts the stress and weight across a larger span and gave me enough space underneath for storage tub. Also, used some wire loops and routed coax cable along back wall, then up and over to water command center. I drilled a hole and routed the coax down. It can now go out access point in the bottom, and not affect baggage door. We also installed a larger exterior grab handle, the one with the extended loop at the bottom. Makes getting in and out much easier, especially with the solid steps and the height. Simple things for sure, but we think it will make the trailer a little friendlier. Safe travels to all Kirt

It does block part of the basement door. You will have to re-learn doing some stuff and maybe pack a little differently. I put mine in the road-side compartment (near the plug), as far to the left as I could get it and angled the back slightly toward the front of the camper. I would be a little concerned about the stresses of hanging this box from the ceiling. Once the cord is loaded in there it's going to weigh quite a bit. Then you're going to go bouncing on down the road...

Today will be the first travel with this set up. By spreading the weight over the 3 cross members and putting the reel in middle of 28" span, my thought was it should be supported fully. Of course, up to this point it is just theory. I liked the height of the reel in that position, a little more comfortable stoop, then attached to floor. Kirt

I have our reel attached to the floor on the drivers side storage an about 4 to 6 inches from the wall, I store my step stool between the reel an the wall which makes it handy to pull out when needed an store when not used ... Safe Travels Chuck
