Heavy black caulk applied at factory along edge where front cap and roof meet on our 2018 Connect. Anyone know what type of caulk this is?

I have to agree sorry to say, factory, but dealer should have at the very least tied to clean it up before putting on their lot ... On your PDI I would have ask to have it cleaned up or attempt to have it cleaned up, what a mess Ugh ... Safe Travels Chuck

Yes, it is a mess. But I would rather not have the deal smooth it out. They could cause an unforeseen problem. Unless you are up on the roof, it is not noticeable. Out of site, out of mind.

I have to say better more than less even thought it a mess at least no leaks which would be more of a disaster Ugh !!!

I suspect if you checked any roof you'll find that. Like you said out of site out of mind and no leaks. Almost every opening on my roofs like that, but it does not leak. I even had the top satellite fitting covered as I'll never use it so no chance of leaking.

Terrible job, in the photo I can see a exposed screw head so the possibility of a leak is present.

Our 2014 Spree Escape roof corners look like that too. Discovered it leaking this year. Got off as much as I could and put Dicor lap sealant on it. From reading here it sounds like I probably should put some eternabond tape over that too. Good luck!
