For the second time in 14 months we are stranded without hot water because the control board died. We are on Prince Edward Island and no one here can fix the heater. Although the Warranty Forever program will pay for the repairs when we get home, this is very annoying. Anyone else have this problem or have any thoughts on why this happens? It’s a 2017 model so not old.

Could just be bad luck, not a great answer, but it happens. Next WAG is voltage related, but you should be having issues with other items, so that's a long shot.
What isn't the water heater doing? Just sitting there dead or trying but no ignition?

Thanks for responding. Unit fires up for about 4 or 5 minutes, then cuts off. So far no other electrical problems. Unit was replaced last summer for the same reason.
