OK, all, need some cooking advice. My old Komfort did not have an oven, so I've never played with one before, let alone =any= gas oven. Biggest issue is how in hell do you get stuff to brown ON TOP?! Bottoms can get nice and brown (or black) but the tops don't even looked cooked. Baked some biscuits and the bottoms were perfect and the only way we could get the tops brown was to put them on a camp toaster! Had the rack in the highest position. Anyone? TIA...

Try putting a pizza stone in, it helps distribute the heat.

X2 on the pizza stone, that's what we did. Up until then every thing put in there would burn on the bottom and not look done on top. Happy Campin....

WTF?! What happened to all the rest of the replies, and how did these get re-dated?

I know people that have used a ceramic tile and had the same results as the pizza stone.

we had a pizza stone that just cracked ... when it popped it sounded like a bomb went off. Scared the crap out of us.

Did someone make it wet, if so water can be absorbed and contained for a long time?

Ours broke first time we used the oven while we were waiting on it to preheat. And no it wasn’t wet . I’ve heard just to put aluminum foil folded in several layers or just a cookie sheet we’re going to try that the wife was pretty mad about her pizza stone and of course it was me who suggested it .

I have not tried the pizza stone but was told to not put it on the metal bottom, put it on the rack under the pan. They said it could crack if put on the bottom. I bought a micro/convection....works great. I wish I had a cabinet under the stove in place of the oven now, though I do use the oven for metal pan storage anyway.
