I installed a selenoid valve, some piping, switch and relay, to be able to fill my fresh water when hook to city water !! Had to add a relay... Without the relay the Led on the switch would go bad... On a 2017 181bhs

I guess the advantage to this over an ordinary valve is that, on your model, a valve is hard to access? Do you watch the tank or the vent to determine when the tank is filled?

Yup, easier and cleaner to have a selenoid valve then rerouting the water pipe. And I have yet to use it in a trip... But depending if I want it full or not... If full yeah sure until I ear it over-flow. Or partially filled, looking at the LED inside... Will see hehe

On a 2017 181bhs Did you not have a gravity fill? If not, virtually every FW I've seen with a "convenience" panel, has a valve to do this right there. (scratching head) Nice job, though. Lyle

This is what Lyle is talking about, switch a few valves, done.

Where did you get the idea that it was a fifth wheel?

Good thing about this is the water going into the tank is filtered VS just out of hose with the gravity fill. I would keep a close watch on the filter mount, between the filter itself and the weight of the hose there is a lot of weight hanging on that mount.

So she gets quiet fast, it gets rid of all the bubble in the system fast. For the weight it only goes there when parked. So only static load.

I figured it was only hanging when parked, but the weight of the filter coupled with the weight of the hose hanging on it might be surprising. We both know there isn't a lot of structure in RV walls.

Yup you are right, just a thin sheet of aluminum. I got 3 screws plus adhesive. The way I made the bracket it help keep the force downward. It barely flex. Will see over time. I already figured if it don't last I'll insert a backing back from the inside... It's under the bunk.

What's the advantage of this setup?

What's the advantage of this setup? Well... Most of the time I have the hose hook-up to filter and to city intake. Instead of switching around the hose to the "filler-tube" to fill the fresh water tank, I just flick the switch. And the bonus is to recirculate water for the pump, it remove all the bubble in the pump that create lots of noise.
