I’m a little low in nitrogen in two of my four tires on my fifth wheel. What’s all your thoughts on topping the tires off with air therefore mixing the two? There was a thread awhile ago about this but I can’t find it. Any thoughts?

This is akin to asking about what's better Ford / GM / Dodge. I am not a strong supporter of the nitrogen way of thinking, so for me, I don't see an issue adding air, as you do more damage to a tire running it under inflated than by diluting the nitrogen.

Air is about 80% nitrogen and it is free. Forget about the nitrogen sales gimmick and use the free stuff.

My fifth wheel came from the factory in Shipshewana with nitrogen almost 2 years ago. Thanks for the info that’s what I was thinking anyway and according to my mechanic he feels that nitrogen is all BS anyway. I’m heading out on a lengthy trip starting tomorrow so I just wanted to make sure. One of my stops is going to be the factory. They have been terrific so far with accommodating us.

Just fill with air from a clean source, filtered air from a compressor drained of moisture, and free of oil.
Nitrogen does have a slight advantage over 02 in that the molicules are bigger and therefore the tire does not lose pressure as fast. However either buying a nitrogen generator or a tank of nitrogen and a regulator, just doesn't make sense to me. JMHO.
Other than the fact a nitrogen filled tire may hold set pressure longer than plain old o2 I can't see a real advantage compared to the expense.

Our fifth wheel came from the factory in Shipshewana with nitrogen almost 2 years ago as well, I just added air to my nitrogen filled tires till I replaced them last year with new tires an rims ....
We did not fill the new tires an rims with nitrogen, other than keeping tires somewhat cooler per some statements made on different sites I believe nitrogen like others it's a sales gimmick, hard to find if needed an some places want $$$$ for such when you do find it....
Safe Travels
