Hello All ...
This is my first post in the forum. I just got a used 2014 Sportsman Classic 200.
I got it home and started checking everything out. I didn't get around to looking at the battery for a few hours. When I checked it, the battery was very dry, and HOT. I disconnected right away, and got some water into the battery after it cooled down. I checked the next day and my lights didn't seem to work on battery. I checked the Electrical unit and saw that a fuse was blown, it was labelled as "charge" and had a 20amp fuse. This was labelled as circuit 5.
I replaced the 20 amp fuse and things seemed like they were going to be OK. After about 15-30 minutes, the new 20 amp fuse was again blown.
Is this indicating that the battery is the problem? I am no electrical engineer!
Is this a circuit that could take a larger fuse? In the manual, it does mention that circuits 5 and 6 can take a maximum of a 30 Adc, and all others are max 20.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Welcome to the forum.
If a battery has been boiled dry or allowed to run dry, it's now a paperweight. The most likely reason why the fuse is blowing is because the lead on the plates inside the battery has flaked off creating a short between the plates. So, go get yourself a good deep cycle battery and you should be good to go. A word of warning- carefully mark the wires before you remove them. For example you may have red, black and maybe a white wire going to the positive post as well as a black and white wires on the negative post... so mark 'em before you disconnect 'em..

Don't just reconnect wires before verifying that the wire to be connected to the negative post is connected to the frame at the other end. You might have something more going on than just a bad battery. Use a volt meter to check voltage at the battery cables even before installing the new battery. A three stage charger will put out 14.4, 13.6 or 13.2 depending on the state of charge of the battery.
