Is it possible to do some carpentry work and remove a panel behind the TV. Providing an access panel would make future work and upgrades simple. Maybe a good place for a mirror, wall decoration or a simple contrasting panel to cover the surgery.
The geniuses that installed my wallplate/amplifier placed it on the ceiling behind the TV, you couldn't poke it with a stick.

I do have the cabinet cabinet wall that I could cut a hole in. Not sure what I would fill it with but its a good idea. I appreciate that.

What about turning the panel you cut out into a door? Add a little support strip on the hinge side, a couple hidden hinges, a clasp, and some trim around the edges should make it look pretty natural.
