3 years now with our 2014 KZ 196.. Technically I am on my 3rd battery. Originally batter was near death or dead. I replaced battery, it died and would not hold a charge. Returned as was under warranty. Now this batter is fried.
What am i doing wrong?
help. incredibly frustrating.

The battery needs to be disconnected whenever the trailer is not in use, a disconnect switch is the most convenient way. Batteries need to be kept fully charged as much as possible and never pulled down more than 50 percent.

I have a similar camper and the battery has been fine. A couple questions: Do you keep the trailer plugged to AC when it isn't being used? Did you check the auto resetting circuit breaker to ensure there is DC going to the battery? The one on mine had to be replaced because it eventually rusted out. You'll find it near the battery and connected to the red (+) wire going to the battery.

In addition to Lynnmor's advice you should avoid leaving the RV plugged in 24/7 as the converters tend towards overcharge and will cook a battery.

Ours has been plugged in for years and the battery has been fine (and now I've jinxed it) Don't recall the inverter model but did some research on the model in our trailer and it manages the current level nicely - working as a battery maintainer. It's one of the few things that has worked well on our camper.

I always pulled my battery off my escape 196, and kept in in the garage on a piece of wood hooked to a battery tender when not in use, and over the winter months, I got tired of doing this every weekend, so I hooked it up to a solar panel, wired to a disconnect, every few days I turn the disconnect back on to top off the battery now. delco rv marine deep cell, 7 years old now, still going strong!

FWIW, I no longer keep battery connected. Remove fuse when not in use. Really only utilize when setting up and for fridge traveling. May add a switch instead to class it up a bit but all is well now. Thanks!

I have my camper plugged in 24/7 since I bought it in 2013 (except when camping). I'm still on the original batteries.
