This is just an info post of what I recently learned. We went dry camping up in Georgia this past weekend. The weather was in the 70's, so no AC was needed. I used LP for the fridge as well as the water heater. Electric consumption was moderate and consistent over the four days. The first 24 hours I ran our Onan 5500. I used (to my best estimate) 14 gallons of gas. The next 72 hours I ran 2 Honda eu2000 generators that I parrelled. I have these rigged with 2-6 gallon extended use boat cans. I was able to run these gens for the full 3 days without re-fuelling at all. so I estimate I used right around 12 gallons of gas for 3 days running the Hondas. Like I said, this is just to maybe help others figure out what direction they may want to go for dry camping.

That is quite a fuel difference. Now the Honda’s will run one or both ac?

Not surprising at all. The Onans all run wide open, all the time, even with zero load. The Hondas, unless you've taken them out of Eco mode, will throttle down to idle until the load is such that they start throttling up. They will only run as fast as the load demands, too. That's one of the great RV Mysteries, IMO. Why Onan doesn't make inverter gen-packs and why Honda/Yamaha/etc. don't make Onan-style on-board gen-packs using their inverter-generators.

Champion 3100I $832 = &832 one A/C Honda EU2200I $1009 X 2 + Parallel kit $50 = $2058 one A/C
When or if the Champion craps out, I buy another = $1664 less than two Hondas

EDD, That 3100 watt runs your 15k AC at startup? I was told by Champion I would need at least 3500 watts And I want a Dual Fuel - I want to run it on Propane not gas... -Nomad

Just one more option that a =lot= of people would pay for from the get-go, if it were offered. Lyle

I just bought a champion3100i last week at Cabela’s for 499.00 out the door. They were clearancing them for some reason. It will start my 15k ac with no problem, I also turned the microwave, several lights and the tv on and everything worked well.

Sorry, mother-in-law and father-in-law who live 100 miles away both ended up in the hospital 12hours apart in towns 75miles apart. (one was medivaced). Yes my 3100 will run one A/C, mines gas not duel fuel.
