Hi,
First post here, however I'm active in the forum for my current trailer brand and have learned over 8 years how valuable input from current owners is after threading and talking to people. I was looking at possibly moving from a TT to a 5ver toy hauler, in particular the 343TH11. We have a nice TT now with a bunkhouse however my boys are all over 6ft now and in their late teens/early twenties so the BH isnt really cutting it anymore and we need another 1/2 bath since we're planning to camp with extended friends and family. Also, the mrs. wants a washer/dryer setup.
First, any current owners that can give me advice in the form of 1)what you tow with 2)plus and minus's of this layout and overall comments/recommendations on this and other layout of the KZ line are appreciated.
I'm thinking that swapping out a bunkhouse for the garage is a no brainer.
FWIW, I have a 36ft TT with two slides and upgraded last year from a 2011 F150EB to a 2017 F350 SRW 6.7 diesel, so not messing around with anything over 11-11.5K weight-wise since I ran the numbers and we tend to pack heavy for cross country trips. I've towed heavy before, just shy of my limits and frankly no longer enjoy pulling with the tail wagging the dog as they say, hence the F350.
We really like the Durango line at the RV show, however I am concerned about weight. Running the numbers using a Ford towing tool (pdf) it was surprising how fast even a 1 ton can hit the limits, seems the pin weight is the breaking point on the SRW. I want plenty of play in the weight, never know may wind up with a toy in the back at some point.

Well, I can't speak specifically of the Sportster line, but having had toyhauler(s) I can say they are really versatile. Once "the kids" move on, you won't be locked into a specific use/ floorplan, so good idea there. Also wise to keep an eye on the weight, as it can get out of hand real quick. The good thing with a toy hauler is toys in the back, will reduce pin weight somewhat, as all of that is behind the axles. We have a Durango 5th wheel that works really well for us, but in your case, not so much, as it sleeps 4 (or did until we replaced the sleeper sofa), but yeah it's hard to not like the Durango line. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the feedback, You are exactly right, one of the challenges with a standard 5ver vs toy hauler is that the washer/dryer set up is usually in the bedroom closet right over the pin vs. in the garage. I need to keep the pin weight down.
