First Major hurdle with trailer. Purchased March 17th 2018. Took the trailer out last weekend and turned the rear air on and all it would do is blow hot air. Being an A/C guy by trade for 30 years got on the roof and unit appears to has lost it charge. Called the selling dealer to see what the wait time was and they said 5 weeks. Well I’m not going to waist my spring waiting on them. I had purchased an extended warranty when new so I ask the dealer what the refund would be to cancel. The dealer said no no don’t do that we can help you find someone to fix. Well after several calls to local shops found one that called me back. Told him my predicament. He called the warrant company and he was told that they would not cover anything because the a/c unit is still under manufactures warranty. So I have an extended warranty that is worthless and a manufactures warranty that is useless.
Called the the manufacture today to see if there was anything they could help with. I explained that I was a licensed a/c contractor and would they allow my to fix the unit. no no no, only specialized Trained personnel can do that. At the time of the call I was working on a 200 ton chiller on top of a 13 story building. 🤔 well after further discussion with the factory I ask what would be done it the unit is truly out of Freon and he said they would replace the entire unit. I ask if the evap coil or condenser was leaking if I could just purchase the parts. He said no they don’t sell those parts. So when did we as a society start throwing away $700.00 appliances in less than 2 years. I will fix the unit I’m sure but very disappoint. I’m also getting a refund on the worthless extended warranty.
Thanks for for reading my rant☹️

There's no margin in selling the parts on such a "cheap" unit (when compared to home systems), so they just scrap 'em. Might check with an RV salvage place to see if you can find an exact match from a newer RV.
FWIW, I think it's b.s. that they won't let you work on it. If you want to, just work on this one while you wait on the new one to arrive and see if you can get it working...just for practice. :-)

They'll turn it on, say everything is fine after holding your unit for a week. Unfortunately, the manufacturers make more money by selling you a new unit after a few years rather than making a few nickles and dimes with parts to make the life of something longer. It's hard when you can see the exact part that needs replaced, but can't find one to buy.

Betcha they don't even ask for a return. I say, get the new one, then play with the old one and see if it can be fixed. Lyle

I can fix the old one. That’s not a problem. It’s the principles of not being able to get service.
Trust me before we go on our 2 week vacation it will be working warranty or not.
I emailed the the dealer and ask for my refund yesterday. So far not a word from them. I hope they respond before Saturday when I walk in the door. It might get uncomfortable 😉

The reason why the roof A/C isn't repairable is because their freon charge so small, adding schrader valves will introduce a leak, which due to small charge will be very noticeable with a system this small. Even when I first got in the biz, this was the case, so non repair ability isn't a new thing. And yes, it seems a huge waste to toss a complete A/C because of a repairable problem.

KZ is usually pretty good on OK'ing a mobile repair. Might want to see if you can find someone that KZ will approve for the warranty work. Just tell KZ that it's unacceptable that there's a 5 week wait at your selling dealer and you have a trip planned.

KZ will approve mobile service, but you will have to pay for the trip charge. They will pay for parts and labor. (That's what they told me). I asked that question to KZ since I live in mine. There are several steps that you have to go through to use a mobile tech.

I found service company that is going to look at it Tuesday. They said if it was anything to do with the refrigerant system Coleman would replace the unit and it will take about a week.
this company is just around the corner from the selling dealer. The sealing dealer has not retuned my calls or emails. I will stopping by there after dropping off the trailer. Hope it doesn’t get to nasty, I’m going to request a entire refund for my extended warranty.

cloud I'm confused here, I believe your trailer has a 2 year warranty with Kz, correct me if I'm wrong the first year the MFG who make the item/product such as your air conditioner is on the hook, the second year
Kz is on the hook for such ... So in all rights since your air conditioner is possibly under the 1 year warranty
out of 2 years Coleman is on the hook for such an should be doing the repair ...
I had a problem with our furnace, we were under the 1 year of the 2 year warranty, I did not take it to my
dealer, I took it to a Suburban repair shop which was a RV dealer who sold Forest River bands of trailers ...
So why are you cancelling your extended warranty when you should not be any where close to using it ?
I wish you luck but I believe your going to have to fight with the extend warranty people not the dealer or Kz ... I'm sure you can cancel but money's put forth when buying such may not be returned, I hope
I am wrong !!!
Safe Travels
