For anyone interested, I recently installed the Fridge Defend www.arprv.com/ on my Norcold 2118 4-door fridge. Installation was easy, and their customer service is great. I frequently have the need to stop at areas that are very out of level and travel over fairly steep grades, yet I like to travel with the fridge on and have been concerned about damaging the boiler, or worse yet a fire, by causing an overheat condition. This handy device monitors the boiler temps and automatically shuts it down well in advance of the factory settings, and will re-start the fridge once the temps have returned to a pre-determined range.
Aside from the peace of mind, I have found the that fridge actually runs more efficiently. Before installation my fridge ran constantly and would never cycle off, yet the inside temps were always marginal at best while on the coldest setting. Since installing I have had to turn the temp down to a warmer setting to avoid freezing my food, and the fridge actually cycles on and off.
For what it's worth, this is probably the best $177.50 I have ever spent on an RV upgrade.
