I am thinking about buying a Durango 2500. Can you tell me about your experiences with that model? Has it lived up to expectations? Would you buy it again? Thanks.
Marilyn
Hi everyone, Thanks for all your positive comments. Based on your feedback we just purchased a 2018 Durango. Usually people just comment when they have bad experiences but none did. Thanks again! Marilyn

Hi. I have a 2013 2500. At the time, it was the best of the Durango line. We like ours very much.
With that said, if I bought a new one, I'm almost positive that I would go with a Durango Gold, as it seems equivalent with what I have now.
I'm not familiar with the newer 2500 line.

I have a 2012 2500. Like johnr said, at the time it was the best of the Durango line. I love ours. Unlike johnr though, not expecting to sell mine anytime soon.

The Durango 2500 no longer exists it is now called just plain Durango. The Line is basically the same sans the 6 sides aluminium frame. It is now 5 sided aluminum. The nose area is no longer aluminum on the new Durangos. Everything else seems to be either the same or improved over the old Durango 2500.
Going up one notch in the Durango line will put you into the Durango Gold. The DG occupies the luxury full time market segment something the Durango 2500 never did.
In KZ history the luxury full time segment was held by Escalade then Stoneridge, Goldrush and finally the Durango Gold. Think of it as a DG is comparable to a Montana and a Durango or Durango 2500 is comparable to a Montana High Country.
As far as quality you will not find better build quality in their prospective price point from any manufacturer

I have a 2017 2500 D336RET. I can’t complain about one thing on it yet. Two a/c’, L shaped kitchen counter, king bed, strong arm stabilization plus a whole lot more. The wife and I didn’t want an island and this was the one we found. The drop frame is a plus allowing for huge basement storage. It turns heads because many aren’t aware of KZ. I’m one of the lucky ones with no real problems yet and into my third season with it and have travelled the east coast from the mountains in New England to Florida. Well maintained through the maintenance program offered when I bought it. Very solid trailer. When the time comes I’ll get another KZ without question.

I was looking at the 1500 D284RLT, which has the optional island, and I didn't want it, though I =was= planning on getting a mobile island for more storage. That way I could move it where I wanted, including out of the way to fully open up the living area. I ended up with the L peninsula kitchen, which I'm not a fan of, but can't complain about the amount of storage available. Downside is loss of "openness", only model that the fireplace wasn't available in (and SHE wants, badly) and can't access the kitchen with the slides closed. I =still= want to see a D284RLT just to compare. Lyle

Would I buy my RV again? Yes, purchased it (2016 Durango 315RKD 2500) in Nov. of 15. We have towed it over 28,000 miles so far, coast to coast twice northern and southern routes. It has had minor issues but nothing I couldn't take care of. We looked at numerous manufacturers and KZ came out on top for what we were looking for. We are very pleased with it. Is the fit & finish, quality still what it was at that time? Can't say, I would hope so. We like it so much we hate going home. But being retired makes it nice, go home for a couple weeks then hit the road again. Happy Campin....

laknox,
Yes it is pre-Thor. I do know Thor has made some changes by talking to the rep at last years RV show in southern Calif. From a personal standpoint I didn't understand why, other than to save on manufacturing costs. At the time it rang all our bells. Still happy with it. Heading out next week for a week. Hate to throw that out there knowing most through the mid west and eastern states are hunkered down still. Happy Campin....

Talking with the sales reps during the rallies an some of the repair people I can see where Thor has made some minor changes in how the work force operates, but not much ... All the work forces an sales reps I have met at Kz seem to be happy an the majority I have talked with have been around Kz for some time ... We do not have a 2500 series but the Gold series an have had some minor problems but Kz has stepped up to the plate no questions ask, our dealer is another story Ugh !!! Would I buy another Kz Product, you bet !!! Safe Travels Chuck

We have a 2017 Durango 2500 325RLT and we have had a few minor problems. The biggest problem we had was a leaking window that the dealership repaired quickly. Yes I would buy another one.
