I’m planning to be in the area of the factory in the middle of July. How much time do I need to give them a heads up that I would be in the area stopping by there for a few repairs if they are able to accommodate me?

Common courtesy would tell you to make an appointment not just show up. If I were you I would firm up my schedule and make an appointment as soon as possible.

I agree with jetzen, they are a very busy repair shop an their repair bay for bigger 5th wheels is pretty much always full with new as well as older trailers all the time... Showing up without noticed may not be the best Idea an they may ask you to come back another day with an appointment ... The other part of this is that they may not have the parts to repair your trailer that is needed, calling ahead gives them time to get everything in order an parts needed ... Otherwise again they may ask you to return another day or even a another week or weeks later ... They also may ask you to have repairs done at your selling dealer an they will ship the parts needed to them for repair of your trailer since they do not have them in stock ... Again as jetzen stated i would be calling now an plan your visit to Kz well in advance an they believe me will welcome you with open arms an go well above what you expect in repairs ... So call ASAP Safe Travels Chuck

Yep, what he said they said. Having been on the service end of this biz, appointments are more than courtesy. Most shops have techs that are really good at one-two things and just good at other things, so depending on what you need to have fixed they might want the really good tech to handle the repair.

Ditto what others have said. It would be best to make the appointment as soon as you can give them definite dates. I made arrangements with the factory to stay over after the rally in August 2018. They knew I would be there, they knew what I needed addressed, and they were ready for me and my repairs. Or better yet... make plans to come to the rally, then stay over and get your repairs made.

Thank you all for the insight. I have to sure up the plans when I’m definitely going to be there. The wife and I are heading from Connecticut to the Smoky Mountains then to Kentucky and want to head up through Indiana into Michigan through Canada to Niagara Falls onto Acadia National Park and Sebago Lake in Maine and then back home to Connecticut. All through July into the first week of August.

Have you thought about being there during the KZ rally? First full week in August.

Can’t make the rally. We’ll be in Maine by then. The factory called and said that they might be closed for a week or two due to the holiday. I think we’ll head up into Michigan and then come back down and try again around the second or third week of July. They told me to call back in April with the hope they might know exactly when they’re going to be closed. They promised a factory tour though when we get there. We’ll see what happens.
