Hi all. got a couple of questions. as of now I have a 2010 KZ INFERNO 4012.i guess we have about 12k miles on it. never have had any problem. I just did brakes and backing plates a year ago. we've had very good luck with this RV. we are looking to upgrade to a VENOM with basically the same floorplan. my question is about the frame and suspension. to me the foundation is the most important part. Our INVERNO has a boxed frame welded to the 12" I beams. then the leaf spring shackles are welded to it. when we purchased the KZ INFERNO at the time it was the only toy hauler set up like this. we were at the Houston rv show this weekend and found none of the new toy haulers have this feature. and of corse there were no KZ VENOM toy haulers there to look at or to compare. are The new VENOM trailers still built this way or has KZ went cheap like every body else and just welded the spring shackles to the I beam. I feel the boxed suspension is the reason our TH has given us such great service. I feel any time we head off we our at max or over max gvwr for our trailer. but its built like a tank. or over built compared to other TH on the market. with the triple axle and the weight we are pulling there's no tire wear. no issues at all. also the newer TH sit up higher. I'm assuming they are going with the axle under the spring now? our axles are above the spring. I do like the extra ground clearance that the new TH offer. thanks for your feed back. Matt

Our 2016 KZ Venom 3311 TQ has I Beam frame rails. The spring hangers are welded to the bottom. Our springs are on top of the axles. Maybe they changed the set up on a newer Venom.
I have planned on adding metal cross braces between the inside hangers running side to side. Just haven't had time.

We don't have Venom but added the MorRyde X-factor cross members to our G384RLT an the wet bolt kit along with the
SRE4000 suspension, really love it, trailer rides much better an no cracking or popping when backing into sites or around
very tight turns any more ...
Safe travels

Think it’s just an I beam frame. Haven’t seen any problems in that area on mine yet. That being said, mine is out at the factory currently getting some frame work done under the bad area but to flexing. Checked in yesterday and it was inside getting some minor repairs made while they waited on Lippert to get there and do their thing. I figure I can keep stopping in and eventually they’ll get tired of looking at me enough to get it done or just give me an office! Lol

Sorry I haven’t checked back on here for a while. Removed the underside in the front to expose the frame under the bed. (Also the front nose too) Basically doubled all the welds and added more steel beams and bolted extra steel to the outer most frame. The flex had popped the fiberglass loose on either side basically where the back of the hitch mounts to the frame. One guy who used to work at Redwood added diagonal aluminum pieces in the side walls on both sides of the nose of the unit. More gussets on the sides too. There were probably a dozen more Venoms in there with similar problems Also a water leak in the grommet where the awning lights go into the wall. Didn’t have it sealed right when built. Both awnings had the same problem and water damage. Should be about all put back together by now. Just watch when you hook up about right about where the tailgate on the truck is and watch for flexing at the bottom of the side walls. They fixed several other things on our list and several things we didn’t even know were a problem. Been a good experience so far! ill try to post a few pictures later

mudmaker how is the fix doing, hope all is well. Have been watching mine in the areas you mentioned and do not see any visible movement yet. Might pull down the underside one day to take a look to see if all is well in there.

The repairs were done and I see no movement in the frame at all now. When mine was built it never had the expansion gap put into it under the slide under the bedroom slide. It’s just a small piece of gap trim that covers the fiberglass where it has a relief cut. I noticed several others that had a siding problem in the same area due to flexing. After Lippert reinforced the under side of the bedroom area, the guy in the repair department added gussets in many places on the exposed sides and a diagonal brace from the front lower corner of the slide to the upper corner where it meets the roof framing on both sides. Gent who was doing the work said he used to work at Redwood and this is what they did on the assembly line for them during construction. It looks like it works! I’ve got one or two other items I’ll talk over with the powers in charge when I go out for the rally next month. I delivered a new 4114tk to Idaho last week and noticed a couple other changes I would like to have in mine. Time to do some secret shopping!
