Our refrigerator is on a slide, when slide is in the refrig. door won't latch properly....it is fine when we are set up with slide out. Has anyone adjusted the latch or found an ad-on latch to solve the problem.

If you have a Norcold, check the cheap plastic door hinges first thing. There is a reinforcing kit that should be installed before they break. If the hinges check out, then perhaps the slide is twisting and transferring that twist to the refrigerator box. Watch the door to cabinet relationship as someone operates the slide.

We suspect there might be a twist since the only time there is a problem is when the slide is in. To our knowledge, the latch has not broken yet...will need to wait for the snow to melt before we can test this out.
Any idea for my other thread about the Pantry Door?
Thanks for your response and ideas.

Thanks for your response and ideas. Here is more information about the Norcold hinge problem: link If anyone has the affected units they should not wait till the hinge breaks before adding the repair. There are cheaper places to buy the kit, just Google the 634166 part number. I don't know how your pantry is constructed, perhaps a photo would help us understand the problem. My pantry has simple shelving that does not roll out. I added an additional catch to the pantry door as well as most other doors and drawers.

If this is a known issue, with a factory-issued kit, why do you have to pay for it? Seems to me that this should be a warranty issue, or a recall. Just sayin'... Lyle

Just a fyi. The hinge is molded into the door. If the hinge should break the door would need replaced. Easy install, took only about 10 min. The kit comes with a left and right hinge support. I went ahead and used the extra one on the top.

Thanks for the replies. We will need to contact the dealer....unit is less than a year old. Problem is they are 3 hours away. I can get it there when the Western NY weather breaks. I am using a tension rod to keep it from opening while on the road so I am hoping that will keep it from breaking...need to get our name in so we can get it repaired...the tension rod is a pain.

We had an issue with our fridge on our last trip, and ours is in a slide as well. I had stopped for fuel and was doing the walk around, opened up to check everything inside and noticed the fridge door had popped open. Once it returns from the dealer, I will need to check the door hinges. I kinda believe the issue was more along the lines of how the wife loaded it, but will need to look into it further. As a safety precaution, I now stick a pillow between the kitchen island and fridge, and this has prevented it from happening again.

One advantage in having the peninsula in our 277, I guess. Have to open the slide to open the fridge...

I am not positive but I am pretty sure it isn't the hinge. The latch is solid when the slide is out but when the slide is in I can pull the door open by just pulling on the door edge by the gasket. I have solved the problem of it opening by putting a tension rod between the frig. door and the sink....I don't have an island/peninsula. It works but it is a pain. I think it needs to be fixed. I have looked on line, several ideas for Velcro straps. I am going to see what the dealer says before I attach anything. I wonder if it isn't in the slide as some have said, twisting something out of square. We have lost a lot of snow but the unit still isn't going anywhere for awhile.
Thanks to all for your suggestions....keep them coming.

Bluegrass, if you decide you need Velcro straps to get you by until you get it repaired right, I bought a 30 foot roll at Harbor Freight. Seems like it was 9.99 or something like that, not very expensive. There are many things it can be used for such as holding cords and coax cables together. I use it to hold the doors shut on my residential refrigerator and to keep the refrigerator from tipping, as well as for cables, etc.

Like rvdude we used Velcro straps for the Frig doors as well in the old 5th wheel, not seem to have the problem with our 384 frig doors seem to stay shut
Safe travels
