Pantry door latches don't hold when on the road. I tried baby safety latches....they broke. Anyone have an idea? I really don't want it to look ugly when not in on the road.

I installed a baby latch on mine. Something similar to the photo below. It has worked well for me, but wife dislikes having to trigger the catch whenever she wants to open the door.

What happened to the old push-button latches that were common in older units? AFAIK, they worked pretty well for a long, long time.

Thanks for responses.
I tried the baby latch it broke and I agree, pain to use. I would go back to it though if it hadn't failed once for me. I was thinking of the old style push button latch. When we purchased it, the PDI person told us we would probably have trouble...they didn't have a good fix but could try to correct it if we had trouble.

I had trouble with mine, the pantry door opened while traveling and broke into a bunch of pieces. That was before I put the safety latch on it. I haven't had any problems since. Could you have gotten a defective latch possibly?

How about adding an extra one of these: door catch? $2-3 each. Or swap the hinges out completely and install self-closing hinges? Lyle

In my first explanation, I failed to say it was a roll out pantry. We solved the problem in our old KZ pantry by cutting thin, 1/4 inch, boards 4-5 inches high and slipped them behind the framework on each shelf behind the door. They worked well and I could take them out when I set up, nothing to work around.
My problem is the roll-out pantry, once it begins to open there is a lot of force on it coming out.

In our old 5th wheel we used slide latches, attached the slide part of the latch to the draw an the drilled a small hole in the door frame, when traveling we just slide the latch over an locked into place ... These were nice brass latch's with small round handles I found at ACE hardware, but I did see them a Home Depot as well ... Here is a link to all types of latche's pick your poison www.thehardwarehut.com/cabinet_catches_latches.phpSafe Travels Chuck
