I have a Garmin RV 770 GPS, you tell it your dimensions and it routes you accordingly. You can do trip planning (stops, etc) with your computer then load it on the GPS. I don't do well with phones due to the small screens.

CoPilot is a mobile app that you can configure in multiple ways. It is also free! Also, there is a very nice add-on for =any= GPS device, including Google Maps, called Route 1. It shows over 8,000 low clearance points in the U.S. and Canada. For $75 you get both databases (they are available separately) with lifetime updates. It is a simple POI database that you load into your GPS or GPS app just as you would any other POI d.b. For comparison, most other "trucker" or "RV" GPS units/apps have only about 1500 low points in their d.b.s. Their site is: lowclearances.com. Lyle

I should also add we do use a paper map in addition to the GPS, just to be sure things are as they should be.

We had the Garmin DezlCam in our big truck and since we retired have moved it to our tow vehicle for 5er. It gives you the choice to set it for a semi truck of regular 4-wheeler. We leave is set up for the semi and works great for us. You can ask it to set a route for you or to find a specific place, ie fuel stop, restaurant, campground, etc. It warns of downgrades, sharp turns, low overpasses, etc. Do get some warnings of trucks not allowed on this road but just ignore those. It's also a great dash cam. I also put it in my car on a trip to Seattle. Was great to use to find stores, pubs, hotels, etc and to have the dash cam. It helped me avoid the toll roads too!

just thinking ahead for the rally trip from Delaware... anyone else going from the Delaware area? If I can get our ducks in a row for this trip we are coming from central MD so maybe we can caravan. We will be stopping over one night though so we can break the trip up a bit. Somewhere in Ohio.

WE also let the Garmin Dezel 770 pick our travel route ... takes care of keeping you away from tunnels that are restricted, bridges that have weight and or height restrictions. It also allows you to add lowclearances.com POI's to the map ... it alerts you even if you are going OVER a low clearance bridge, that can be annoying, but it is comforting to know that you aren't on a route that will suddenly present an 11 foot bridge. To decide WHERE we want to go, we subscribe to an online service "RV Tripwizard". Lots of good features and park reviews.

You could also check the Trucker Path app for your phone.

You could also check the Trucker Path app for your phone. I do have the trucker path app ... I use it mostly to locate truck stops. It does have a "moving map" so you can use it as a first line gps ... I just prefer the Garmin Dezel 770, but that is totally a personal choice.

I use RV Trip Wizard for the trip. I like you can find RV parks along the way, it does tell you about low bridges too. I really like you can very your trip as you go by just pulling the route to the path you want. It will keep track of alot of other stuff too if you want to use it. Of course this program is best used off a computer 0r laptop. Cell version is not so good. And we use Google Earth to fly the trip before hand, use street view to check out road conditions, freeway on and off ramp turns, etc. Google Earth is a must use for me. And the wife keeps track of us along the way on her phone maps, Ipad, and we use our Navigation screen in the truck. We try to leave nothing to chance anymore. We have been stuck in dead end roads, narrow little street and passed up our off ramps before.
There always seem to be something that comes up, but the more we plan the better off we are.

Just updated RV Parky and saw it has low clearances as an option. As I mentioned above, look into the Route 1 POI database of low clearances. > 8,000 points in the U.S. and Canada. You can get them separately, but the entire N American d.b. is $75 with lifetime updates. Compatible with virtually all nav apps and GPS boxes. No, I don't work for them, but when you realize that the "trucker" and "RV" apps and GPS only have about 1500 low clearance data points, Route 1 could be a real asset. www.lowclearances.comLyle
