As of Sept. 20th the Indian toll road has increased toll for Class 3, three axles vehicles up 35 percent, so say you have a
three axle trailer an a two axle truck a total of 5 axle's you paided $44.00 before an now you have to pay $60.02 for the
157 mile toll road ...
Thus if your trailer MFG uses a carrier that hauls trailers on the Indiana Toll road I'm sure they will increase the delivery fees ...
Of course if would be somewhat less for a two axle truck an trailer but not much ... You might think about other routes to avoid using this cow path, wait a minute, I've travels cow paths better than this road Ugh !!!

I read somewhere recently, that this road is actually in much worse condition than the surrounding freeways and state highways. So much for the tolls...

Not trying to start a political argument, more of a rant...but being a native West of the Mississippi person I have never understood toll roads as it's not as if you East of the Mississippi types don't pay enough in taxes. And to make it worse most of them are in lousy shape, although I did find the IN toll road was better than anything in IL. If you want to feel your orifices stretched, cross the Antioch bridge in CA. Last time I crossed that cursed span it cost $5.00 for two axle P/U, $20.00 if you pull a two axle trailer. 4 times as much for that other 2 axles.

The PA Turnpike is a good example of total corruption, if you think of it that way it is very easy to understand.

My brother was 100% anti-toll roads until he talked to a gentleman from a huge construction company about 30 years ago. Brother was part of a Phoenix Metro group that looked at various ways for the Valley to develop. One thing that had come up was to put in a toll road on the far west side of the Valley that would have funded what we now have, and are =still= building, namely the Loops 101, 202 and 303, as well as improving I-10 and I-17. This company presented a turn-key approach, from handling the political side, drafting and passing the needed laws, to ribbon cutting on each section completed. He estimated that build-out of the =entire= system, that's =still= being built, would have been in about 5 years and that this was a pessimistic number given our "normal" weather and the fact that they'd be working 24/7 on the projects. The laws needed would have been drafted with sunset clauses that would have =required= voter support to re-up the law, and not only that, but a "super-majority" (like 75%) would have to vote to continue the tolls. Realize that, before the details were laid out, my brother called this guy a liar to his face, to which the guy just laughed and said that it was far from the first time that he'd been called that. He then showed brother some of the projects that they built, using tolls, and how long the tolls lasted. In the end, brother was 100% on board and, for those of you who live here in AZ, or visit frequently, can you imagine if what you see =now= had been =completed= 25 years ago? Hell, they're still arguing about expanding I-10 to > 2 lanes south of Phoenix, even though there's now 5 lanes through Casa Grande. Guess where all the backups and major accidents are, barring dust? Yep, in the 20-some miles between Chandler and just N of Casa Grande, where it's all 2-lane. EVERYTHING S of Casa Grande is > 2 lanes. Just ludicrous... OK, enough...

The Ohio Turnpike was paid for years ago, but they still have tolls to keep it up, it's at least smooth an kept up unlike the Indiana Toll road ... look a I-94/I-90 in IL. a toll every 5 miles an the roads are pitiful an is a cash cow ... Indian leased the toll road for 99 years an only gets a small percentage of the overall gross an the rest goes overseas to a Spanish/Australian Corp... They tried to lease the PA Pike but the people rebelled an said no but they they keep trying to pass such so they can do it... Out here they toll the bridge's an tunnels saying that once they are paid for they will take the tolls off, if you believe that your dreaming, they rise the tolls about every year because they say they need to funds for upkeep but you never see them working on the upkeep much ... Same way with HOV lanes, they toll them to keep the traffic down they say an only after they have new construction on such, well lets see, the feds give them money to build the road an upkeep for the road an then they charge to use the road so how sweet a deal is that ... One last thing to think about, if Indiana has raised the rate on Class 3 an above vehicles an it cost $60.02 for the 157 mile trip across the toll road an the low average is about thousand trucks in a 24 hour day, how much money do they make in a day not even counting cars or Travels trailers just trucks ... Of course the trucking companies don't care they just increase the freight bill for shipping which is passed onto the MFG's an stores an then onto you ...
An you are correct that RT 20, Rt30, Rt16, Rt 2 are all by far smoother than the Indiana toll road an are kept up by the state if Indiana ... Safe Travels Chuck

New York State I-90 is just as bad. I am not sure about ratings in other states but in NYS you not only pay for axels but you also pay for height. We have a 30 ft. 5th wheel, 12 ft. height. We got hit with a height fee, we are not as tall as many. So they, "charge for air", as we joked. WELCOME TO NEW YORK!!!! We recommend Route 86, southern highway, along the PA border....no tolls.
