If all goes well we should be picking up our new Durango on Saturday and I already have stuff ordered to install. The first project I am hoping to complete before my first trip will be a backup/observation camera. Check this thread out later for more details but the camera I purchased is the Haloview MC7108 720P wifi camera. The system comes with 1 camera (can mount up to 4 cameras) and a 7" IPS screen with built in DVR capability.
Looking at various sources it looks like the Furrion pre-wired setup will require a mini-phono adapter or the wires will need to be cut in order to get power to the camera. I plan to use the housing and may use the cover as a mount. I won't know until I can actually get my hands on it.

The furrion is just a standard plug in connector, not sure on what connector your camera has, but I have no complaints about the furrion camera. If it’s a wifi camera, should only have a power and ground going to it.

Looking online it looks like the Furrion plug is a female mini aux plug that would connect to something like this on one end:
The new camera has a typical power plug type connector. I will have some pics up soon.

I think having the ability to see behind your rig is great idea. I haven't done it yet, but I am wondering if I could use my wife's iPhone on FACETIME ... just a thought.

I have to say after backing up big rigs for a number of years I get confused when even looking in the backup camera in the car let alone one on the back of a trailer ... The same with looking behind me, unless the car following me is 2ft off my bumper an even then I can tell they are back there by wiggling the trailer just a bit even with a 53ft trailer ... I guess I am old school an when backing I get out an look to see where my back end of the trailer is in many case's, have I missed judged, yes no one perfect but no damaged has come of it backing into a camping spot ... I have asked the DW to watch in some tight spots just to make sure I didn't take out a picnic table or power/water pedestal The old saying is when in doubt get out a look
But i will not knock anyone who uses such, it's all about safety an if a camera helps you while backing then all the better instead of damaging something, someone or your trailer then I'm all for it So now that I have said such I have to double watch what I am doing LOL Mr. Murphy will now get me when backing the trailer into someplace ... Of course i'm one of those guys who most always ask for a pull though ... Safe travels Chuck

I got the Furrion observation camera. I could never get used to using it as a backup camera, maybe it's the size of the screen. I do like to use it as a rear view mirror, it's nice to know if someone is directly behind you, or if it's safe to pull back into the lane after passing someone.

Our 5er is still at the dealers for the warranty repair work. They are supposed to get to the end of next week. I hope we get it back and have some time to do this install before winter REALLY sets in. We have already had almost 10" of snow and next weekend looks like it could be another big snowstorm hitting the area.
We were thinking of going to a local campground for a night if the weather cooperated but that is looking less and less likely since we will probably be getting the trailer back the middle of December or later in the month depending on how long it takes them to get parts in etc.

mdcamper The way I look at it is that better for them to take their time now before you get the trailer, than have to drag it back an have to wait when the weather turns good next spring an your chomping at the bit to get out there an enjoy you new home on wheels ...
The other part is looking out the window when you do get it home an wish you could get out there an do some camping... I don't know what is worse, having it at the dealer waiting for delivery or looking out the window at
it in a foot of snow an wishing you could use it, Ugh!!!
Safe Travels

Camper is FINALLY finished according to the dealer. So, after we pick it up and we get a decent day I will be beginning my projects. This one is not #2 on the list with #1 being installation of a new hardwired surge protection system. - I will start another thread for that one when I am actually doing the work! LOL
