I have searched this forum and googled and have seen that other brands have had this problem, but can't find it on this forum. We have a 2012 Durango 245.
We just got back from a 10 day trip with multiple stops and it rained on the way to every one of them. First day was rain so heavy we could barely see the tail lights in front of us. So we thought the water inside the trailer was a fluke. When we left that campground and went to our next stop, I put towels at the end of both dinette slide and kitchen slide in case it happened again. It was only lightly raining on that leg but it stayed with us for a couple of hours. When we reached our 2nd destination, the carpet was soaked again but mainly on the dinette side.
Hubby visited with an RV repair shop owner there and he looked under the slides and said he didn't see anything that indicated the slides were uneven or not closing snugly, but he did say that most of the RVs he sells have a rubber strip on the bottom that ours doesn't have.
I only brought 4 bath towels with us on the trip, so borrowed old towels from mom's house for the next leg of our trip. This time, I lined the edge of both slides with towels and only a little water reached the carpet on the dinette side.
On the day we were supposed to leave that camp, no rain in the forecast. But we only made it 50 miles when we started having engine trouble and had to stop at a Chevy dealer. They had to order a part, so we camped in their parking lot overnight. (Not fun, btw) Yesterday afternoon, we left there and drove in rain for the last 3 hours. I had doubled the amount of towels at the end of the dinette slide but a little still got through.
This has really soured me on KZ and RVs in general. I don't want to dread being caught in rain every time we go on a trip.
Has anyone had this problem and fixed it? Do you know who I can call at KZ to see if they know what to do?

Slide room leaks are a real pain to fix. The tech needs to understand how the seals are supposed to work and not be impatient. Unfortunately you are going to have to find a KZ dealer because they are most familiar with how KZ designs their sealing method & what looks normal. It's strange that you have a leak with the slide in and out, usually it's one or the other, and that leads me to think it could be a molding or a window. Water travels, this happened to me with my previous coach. I thought it was my slide, redid some suspect seals. Nope, turned out to be a window. Don't lose faith, it can be fixed and made water tight.

There is no water getting in unless we are towing it in rain. We had a week of rain and no problems with the slides out. It's only when the slides are in and we are moving. The first day there was also some sandy grit on the floor that I don't think was there when we started our trip.
I called KZ and left a message and someone called me and wanted me to take a lot of pictures of the seals and under the slides. I hope to hear back tomorrow.
Since we live in our RV full time, taking it to the shop will be a major inconvenience. I hope we can figure it out first so we can lessen the time in the shop if it comes to that. Now that we are home and have the RV in the garage, it is ok. We just won't take it on any trips until we find out how to fix it.
I've read on other forums that adding a rubber strip to the bottom solved the problem with their brand. But KZ doesn't seem to be made the same way so that might not work, might not be necessary. Luckily, the water is only in the middle of the trailer, mainly on the vinyl unless it got past the towels and hit the edge of the carpet.

At Kz they will let you live next to the main building for a short time or as we did an ronc live in a camp grounds near their shop an run the trailer back an fourth, why I say this any RV repair shops but not all will let you live either at their shop or send you to a place close by were you can fairy your trailer back an forth to there shop ... MorRyde even lets you stay inside their work bay overnight as some will do, but unlikely with a RV Dealer ... Some RV dealers an RV Repair shops even have camp ground attached to their dealerships ... I would wait an see what Kz has to say, I believe you may be missing the rubber seal or have a bad seal someplace on the lower part of the slide, but hey I'm not a RV Tech an as nvguy stated a Kz dealer will better know how to fix your trailer than a general RV dealer or in most cases but not all a RV repair shop .... Let us know how it turns out an keep the faith, Kz overall is a good product, yes it has some flaws, they all do, but if you look the are better built than most as you can read not only on this form but other forms not related to Kz ... Safe Travels CHuck

Only having a leak when towing makes this much more fixable. But as Chuck said, probably best to see what KZ has to say. They might be able to advise your local shop rather than having to go to to the factory.
