1500/Half Ton owners (Maybe 2500 as well?)
We will be towing our new D271RLD with a 2016 Titan XD crew cab with a 6 1/2 foot bed. I have had to rule out (well I can come back to this if needed but to stay where I want to with weight I would have to take two cars when other people are joining us when camping) either the turning point or sliding 5th wheel hitch.
I really like the design features of the Reese goosebox. This is the route I am currently taking. So to cut to the chase, anyone out there that is using the reese goosebox - How are your clearances with the newer 1500/Half Ton Durangos? Are you satisfied with your experience with the hitch as far as forward and reverse turns? Has the design of the Durango front cap helped in this regard with the "maximum turning radius" feature?
If you have any profile pictures and maximum turning pictures of your setup please post them. Would love to see how this all looks.
Thank you!

My old, very square-front Komfort would =not= hit the cab of my '02 D'max 2500HD 4x4 CC SWB at full lock R and L, when going forward. Close, but not quite. My KZ 1500 D284RL will not hit, either; again, close, but not quite. In reverse, ALL will hit...PERIOD. A slider or other hitch, only gives you a bit more room / time before you WILL hit. :-) YMMV...

Thank you for the info. This is our first 5th wheel and reading some forums people seem to insist on a slider or rotating pin box if you have a short bed truck. Have you ever felt like you needed more room in any situation or have you always felt comfortable about where the front cap and cab were?

I started with a non slider with my '17 SB Ford, I did fine until this one time I was parking my coach at home, where the up hill angle closed up the distance between the front cap and cab. Good news is rear windows for Ford trucks are really reasonably priced. Now I have a slider.
