Has anyone added any type of racks or boxes to the rear bumper? If so, please post pics and mods you did to attach, and approx weight added for both the rack added and the items you carry on the rack,,, storage boxes, coolers, kayaks, bikes,,, just looking at some ideas, but want to make sure its not only secure but safe,,,

It's an LCI (ugh!) brand rack and rated for 200 lbs., per the label. Personally, I think it's capable of more, but I won't test that theory while under warranty. I doubt there's a difference in the bumper on a non-rack model one with a rack, so you might be able to order a factory rack and have it bolt right on. I've only used mine one time and that was for an empty 110 qt cooler. This being said, if you want to =add= your own rack, and you're out of warranty, I'd re-do the rear bumper completely, with something much heavier, then build your own rack, using receivers in line with each frame rail. Doing that, you could build one to haul as much as you want, within reason. Personally, I wouldn't mind 500 lbs' capacity. Lyle

When I bought my Durango, I had them take it to a welding shop to reinforce and add a receiver. They did a great job, mine is rated at 3,000 pounds. It is super solid. I had a previous camper that I just added a receiver and just a small generator almost ripped off the bumper.

welovedisney The racks on the newer Durango Golds from what I have seen will hold a small generator an a tail gater satellite dish an a cooler, so I have to believe that was over 200pds, I'm thinking that it is stated 500pds on our 384 ...
I would highly recommend reinforcing or add tubing to your bumper to the frame along with a gusset along the bottom ... I was thinking about adding tubing to my back rack buy inserting a size smaller tubing into the square tubing already hold the bumper on an running it another 3ft back to add extra strength an support along with of course welding along both sides to the frame an adding the gusset as well ...
I personnel would not add a receiver an then a rack to a bumper an then put any heavy weighed stuff on it but that's just me lots of people do it as shown when adding reinforcing to such Look at pictures of the new Durango Golds an you will see an get Idea's of how they LCI did it, the rack brackets are welded to the bumper an then the bumper mounts are welded back from the bumper about 2 to 2 1/2 feet an welded to the fame... As stated this is were I would add another 3ft for better support an possibly a 45 degree angle
on each end maybe 5 inches deep 2 inch thick peace of steel (ie a gusset) maybe 2ft long for extra support..
Maybe overkill but you would be able to carry allot of weight on a rack say 3ft deep by say 3 an 1/2 to 7ft long off the
back of your trailer... BTW I seen a Gold Rush being put into the work bay at the factory while I was there the end of August to have some work done it, thought of you when I saw it Safe Travels Chuck

we are really trying to arrange our time off next year to make the rally,, I need to have the flex issue addressed for sure, but may be interested in the rack for the rear while there.. Like I've said before, we really like the layout of the GoldRush Nugget that we have,,,, its nice going to shows and looking at other rigs and realizing you already have what you want...

LOL, I have to agree with you, I hear am see posts all the time of owners wanting this or that an say to myself with a smile "we already have that" I realize that the GoldRush Nugget is in some ways a more than a step above our Durango Gold 384RLT but we still have many of the features that was carried on from such an I believe along with other the build an workmanship quality along with the standard is still there even thought the materials are for different ... Safe travels an hope you can make the Kz national rally net year Chuck

My brand new Durango 2500 already has a 2” receiver welded in place to the back bumper and a structural member 1-and-a-half to 2 feet forward, There is even a neat bundle of wires that look a lot like a 4-wire trailer set just waiting to be attached to a plug. However, there aren’t any labels indicating what its weight rating is - and the manual is silent. I’ve toyed with putting a rack on the back, but this thing is long enough. Any longer and the LW will really be upset.

Call KZ with your VIN to be sure, though. As for racks, almost all the add-on racks fold up when not in use, so length isn't =that= much of an issue. Lyle

These hitches in most case's were put on so you could hook another trailer to your 5th such as a boat, thus the wiring ...
I would say if your planing on putting a hitch type rack I would reinforce the bumper with what I recommended before with adding more square steel from the bumper to the frame an a gusset under such ... Some people may say being the way it is, is ok, an I have seen a number of people using such, but I always side on the side of caution an build everything twice a much as it should be
When hauling my Honda Generator I put it in the bed of my truck, if I have extra stuff it goes in the bed of my truck an I have never used the rack on the back of my trailer, in fact I don't even know why I keep it on the trailer ... I know people use them, Edd505 uses his an he has no problems so it all up to the person as I see it
an if they need the extra space ...
Good Luck an safe travels
