Hi DG folks, have a question about the power awnings in my 2017 382MBQ. I asked the question during my walk through about changing the awning pitch (angle) to help with rain/dew run off in the wetter months. The technician said it could be done and pointed out what looks like pins that can be used to change it. Factory settings are pretty flat and any amount of wetness would be an issue.
My question to the group is has anyone done such to aid in run off, and if so can the awning be retracted with the new pitch or does it have to be set back to OEM settings? And are the awnings easy to adjust? Ideas as the wetter months here in TX are coming up.....not that the recent months haven’t been wet enough 😂
Thanks in advance for all the great advice and ideas Bobcat

Bobcat,
I will depend on what brand awning you have . Carefree awnings have adjustable pitch, Solera awnings do not. I would need to see the awning arm mechanism to be able to identify which you have.

I have the CF. I keep mine pitched. I believe it can go about 30 degrees. Its been so long since I did it that I forget. You do it just like you would a manual - but not pitched on one side, both need to be the same. You can retract without changing the pitch. Instructions in the manual or online.

Thanks, I will look when I get there this weekend to determine what model I have. I know the rear awning is a CF, but for some reason I am thinking the sides are LCI. I could be completely wrong and will check.

Window Awnings - actual awnings to cover the windows or slide toppers? I don't think LCI does awnings, but maybe. The patio is probably CF.

Awnings, not slide toppers. I may be thinking of all the decals by the door, which at some point I am taking off. LOL Sensory overload!

As I recall on my 2019 380FLF with smart control the arm closer to the front has a stick saying push or pull here to adjust pitch. I had to do so last month in AR dealing with heavy rain. After adjusting pitch I was able to retract normally until controller burned up. I just had dealer replace yesterday so I will see how long it keeps working.

The only pitch adjustment for the Solera Smart Arm is to pull slightly down on one end for rain runoff. With these awnings, there is no way to lower the awning to keep the sun off of you.

I seem to recall water weight tipping it to dump.

Carefree awnings have adjustable pitch, Solera awnings like rvdude stated do not ... If your trailer is made in 2017 or very early (January 2018) you more than likely have a Carefree, but there was a change-over from one to the other around that time frame ... If you have the Carefree there is a small button on the awing arm that adjusts the tilt of the awing that you push in to adjust the awning pitch... I adjusted our to be even an it rolls just fine an water seems to run off to one end if it has to much water on it ... Safe Travels Chuck

I was able to confirm they are Care Free awnings, had to find the super small logo on the underside of the arm. Their marketing person should be fired for that one!!! LOL Thanks for everyone's input, and it sounds like I can make a small adjustment to the pitch and not worry about it from now on. That way it is there in case it rains and things will be good to go!

Thanks again for everyone's input. Was able to put a pitch on both awnings and confirm they retract correctly. Ready for the winter wet, and just maybe the dogs can be convinced to go out under the awning! Note to everyone with the carefree awnings. I found it a lot easier to adjust the pitch with the awnings closed. There was no tensions on the pins and slide arms and it took all of about 30 seconds to adjust both. Bobcat
