I own a Connect 303RL. The Amazon ratings for the Furrion 381556 FOS48TAPK-BL are not as good as other options, but it appears very compatible with the pre-wire set up. I'm wondering if anyone has used other backup cameras with success? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know (which isn't very far), if yours has the camera prep it is made for the Furrion camera. It is a direct fit with easy installation. Others may fit and work, I don't know. As for my Furrion observation camera, I installed it in about 10 minutes and it works great. I have not seen any other brand of monitor and what the picture on those looks like, but I do have a good picture view with the Furrion. I have the observation camera which is on all of the time as long as the headlights are on.

After talking to the dealer installation staff and reviewing Amazon reviews, I decided not to buy a Furrion. The install required more time (1 hour vs .5 hour). The non-Furrion doesn't look as good on my opinion, but it performs well. I'll try to post a pic.
If you don't have a backup/observation camera, consider one. Having better visibility when changing lanes and backing in is a game changer in my opinion.

Here's a pic of the camera mounted just under the KZ prep mount. I think another advantage to not using Furrion is that I have more control over where I point the camera. If I have the bike rack down, I can point the camera to see further behind the rig when using it as an observation camera. If the rack is up, I can adjust to be sure I'm seeing the back of the rig when backing in. It is working well, but it's early yet. I'll try to post an update after a few months of use. Attachments:

I like mine, it's nice being able to see what's going on behind the trailer while traveling.
It looks like your trailer has the camera prep. To install the Furrion camera, all you do is remove the 4 screws, plug in the camera, then put the 4 screws back in. If they were wanting to charge you an hour for that, they were planning to rip you off. I did it in about 10 minutes. And the Furrion observation camera can be adjusted up or down as needed.

I have already purchased Furrion set up but have not installed it yet. Mine is not prewired was hoping to get power from middle clearance light. Guessing there is solid foam behind there. Anyone done this what might be the best way to dig a small hole down a couple inches for the wire?

My trailer was prewired from the factory with the furrion kit, I bought the observation camera from amazon for $450, vs the $800 the local dealers were wanting, and it took less than 10 min to install the camera, mount the screen and set everything up. I will never be without it, backing into a camping stall at night is actually very easy, that camera has better views than you’d expect. The trailer will not leave the driveway now without the screen attached to the windshield and turned on!

I saw a post about adjusting non Furrion models but the Furrion also adjusts so I can point it down the road further or straight down at my bikes. Exact same purchasing experience as well. Would have loved to support my local dealership but $450 on Amazon vs. $800 at the dealership was a no brainer.

And another bonus with any backup camera, if it is aimed correctly, and if there is a little bit of shade, I can check my rear lights through the camera! I can see the park lights, and both turn signals/brake lights from the cab of the truck.

I have the Furrion. The trailer was prewired for it. It was easy to install and works great. Bought mine on e-bay.

My 231RK was pre-wired for the Furrion. I bought mine on-line, don't remember who from. I also got the observation camera and leave the parking lights on all the time while traveling. I like being able to see behind me on the highway. Also like it while backing the camper up. Plus I triple tow and need to see the tongue of my boat so I can back the 5th wheel up to it. Most camping/fishing trips I'm solo so I don't have any one to spot for me, that camera works great. I can point it down to see the ball and watch the trailer tongue get closer. Make adjustments as needed without getting out of the cab. Then tip it back up so I can see behind me on the road, plus watch the boat. I can keep an eye on it while driving. Worth every penny.

Couple of quick questions. I'm pretty sure my camper (2018 3911 Venom)is prewired for a back-up camera, correct? And, is this the one I want, Furrion 381556 FOS48TAPK-BL. I know, ya'll can't say which I want, but will this be a good one for me to purchase. Can I install it myself?
I know stupid questions, but, If you don't ask................
Thanks all.

Any of the furrion cameras should work, there are backup and observation cameras available, different price points, but for the price I paid for the observation camera, and how easy it was to install, it as a no brainer for me.

That would be the camera that SHOULD fit your pre-wiring. As far as I know, that's all KZ uses but I could be wrong. Mine was prewired for it, and I have that one, and I like it. As far as the installation, just unscrew the 4 bolts, remove the cover plate, plug the camera in to the wiring, and put the 4 screws back in where the face plate was, then put the monitor in the truck. It took me less than 10 minutes to install mine. There is a backup camera and an observation camera. Be sure you get the observation camera. You can see behind you while going down the highway if you keep the headlights on as well as seeing while you back up.

You can see behind you while going down the highway if you keep the headlights on as well as seeing while you back up. I did get this camera and installed, as others have stated, in about 15 minutes. I found my camera didn't work, but my monitor did. I rechecked my factory prewiring from KZ and found they had used side by side splices to tap into my clearance light circuit. The wiring from the camera plug is very small and wasn't making contact in the splice they had used for the ground, I redid both the hot and ground slices and everything works great. Now, the use of the camera: What a great tool, I have towed many miles without one and don't know how I got along without it.......I love it. When at speed (65 mph) and going across those bumpy interstate bridges, I do loose reception for a couple of seconds, but it comes right back and works flawlessly. I've read this is an issue with campers this large(42'). I'm ok with it. Overall, I won't roll without it.
