Greetings, I have an appointment with my dealer for 9/20 to cover a couple issues. I’ve had the 2019 380FLF for about 2 months and DW and I live fulltime. Yesterday I noticed the floor is squeaky up in front living areas in main floor not on slide areas. Is this some thing the dealer will fix? The carpet in this area also has a silver dollar size spot when everything is missing except carpet backing. The spot is near perfect circle about 1-1/4”.
The other fixes including smart awning will be looked at later this month. I just wasn’t sure what all was covered? The carpet upon close inspection looks like the cheapest carpet that can be bought. It is one step above the old fake grass carpet.
The dealer is working us in later this month and planning to have it out same day.
Is it possible for us to replace carpet? I told my wife a small rug could cause problems for the two opposing slides.
In the event they can’t fix it on same day is this something the factory would fix at next years rally?

Isn't it irritating (to say the least) for the amount of money these campers cost for these things to happen? Our 384 RLT has a squeak in the bedroom floor. Dealer said it wasn't attached and when we bring it in at end of season they will fix it. Look at my other posts of the many lists of issues we've had. Besides the floor, we are going to have to have the dishwasher pulled to find the leak. Good luck on getting yours fixed and insist they fix/replace your carpet. PS - Also we just noticed the decals on the rear of the camper are pealing off already. Added that to my list for the dealer.

There is a bit of flex in the front of Durango’s. So the floor of whatever is in front will likely develop a squeak. We have a 381REF (front bedroom) and there is a bit of squeak in bedroom floor nearest the closet. Since it’s in the bedroom it’s not really annoying, but if it were in a Living Room, it might be more of a bother.

Your dealer should be able to take care of these issues, replacing the carpet is a bit of a job, so you might have to make alternative arrangements for an evening-or not..depends on the dealer. Regarding the carpet, I would try to make a deal, something like you pay the cost difference for better carpet, as it makes no difference what is installed. Same thing time wise regarding the squeak. Floor squeaks are either a breeze to fix or a total nightmare.. The good news is a lot of the time the best path for a floor squeak fix is to remove the floor covering, so removing the carpet for replacement might ensure a better repair. And yes, the factory would be able to take care of these items,(they fixed my floor squeak) again, with some time allowances..

The floor in my Durango squeaks once in awhile, but hasn't in over a year now. Go figure. As for the carpet, one of the slides left black streaks on the carpet. My dealer replaced the carpet under warranty. It took them two or three days, I don't remember exactly (this was in 2014).

On your smart arm awning repair... if you are having the control modules replaced for the recall, that only takes a few minutes for each one. I had mine done at my dealer on the recall, had one replaced at the factory a few weeks after that, and a couple of weeks later mine are still getting wet and not working. There seems to be a major flaw in the design of these.

Rvdude what are you planning on doing about your awning? I assume the only option at this point is to go without awning or buy a replacement?

I can't say they will fix it at the rally but I can say they took two 5W's to the factory for repairs at the rally. One had the front cap off and they covered it with a temp cover so it could be used for the night and returned the next day. They checked over every KZ there and did most repairs in the RV park. They fixed issues I didn't know I had. The KZ factory people were outstanding on fixing issues.

baranski, I am going to contact my dealer on Monday and get approval to replace both of the modules again. Since I will be taking the trailer out again on Thursday and I have to pass right by the dealer to get to where I'm going, hopefully I can get both changed out again and then hope that it never rains on my trailer again. like nvguy get ready to pay extra above what is there for better carpet, like the rest of the 384 owners we have a flex in the front an a squeak up in the bedroom
As far as the smart awning goes I believe like others there needs to be a re-design of such by Lippert (LCI) Seem like right across the board, be it a Kz product or other brands of trailers any that has this new awning is having problems ... Like rvdude has stated he is now on his third repair an still having problems Ugh !!!
On the Decals coming off, I'm sure that Kz can ship the dealer new ones, I watch them put new decals on my front cap after they replace it, ronc has watched them do the same on his front cap, we both were amazed at how quick an easy the Kz tech put them on an made sure there was no bubbles or creases in such ...
No squeak anywhere else in the trailer, we had a slide topper pull out of slide over kitchen, Kz is having a new slide topper shipped to our dealer along with repairing the slide out wall were the screw holes were pulled out under warranty ... They are also replacing the theater seating due to one of the recliners not reclining all the way back ... I like ronc am a firm believer in the Kz service people, they go out of their way to fix anything an anything you or they find no questions asked ... I bent the door hinges on our pantry door (my fault) I ask if they could replace such, next thing I new there were new hinges on the door an was ask if there was anything else that needed attention ...
I will say it again an again, if you have a chance to meet the people at Kz an visit with them no matter if it management or service they will bend over backwards to greet you an help you in any way they can with service or repair of your unit no matter if it's a TT or 5th wheel ...
The people at Kz are true to their word an in deed, they stand 150 percent behind their product an will go out of their way to show you such ... What upsets me more than anything is that some of their dealers that sell their products do not, they could care less about Kz products all they want is your money an kick you out the door ...

We have a lot of the above. I wish the KZ factory was closer to where we are. I'd take it straight to them. I think it had to have been put together on Friday before a holiday and the person who was supposed to do the finish work started on the prior Monday. We have the squeak in the front bedroom, smart arms that keep breaking, decal on the rear sections are starting to peel, the dishwasher leaks, the shower leaked underneath (pipes weren't tightened), the microwave/convection oven had to be replaced because it didn't work, the theater seats weren't put together correctly, bathroom door lock had to be replaced. The smart arms have gone out more than once. We bought this unit early this year and it seems like every weekend it is something else. Our dealer swears that they will fix everything (and have on a lot) but it still sucks the pure joy out of using the unit. I hope when we bring the unit in at the end of the season they can complete all that is wrong and next season it will be a completely different story.

I spoke with the service manager at my dealer today. He said the awning modules are giving him tons of problems, he's replacing a bunch of them repeatedly. Lippert needs to come up with a better revision on these.

I know of at least three other 384RLT's beside ours, rvdude smart arm along with a number of other MFG;s are having the same problem with rain getting into them an then not working, so Lippert (LCI) needs to come up with a better mouse trap so to speak ...
On the squeak, not to scare you or imply such but LCI states that a quarter of an inch is exceptable in front end flex on the
Durango Gold 5th wheels, this may more may not be the reason you have a squeak in your floor if it's in the bedroom of your
trailer ... But after Kz took off our front cab an did some welding an some other stuff we have no squeak any more in our bedroom, however LCI stated that are trailer was within standard at a quarter inch of flex ...
As far as pipes being tightened the dealer when excepting your trailer when delivered an before doing your prep should have
discovered these problems an thus fixed such before they even showed you the unit, the same with the dishwasher an
theater seating ...
I can tell you that the factory dozen't put any water thought these trailers at the factory that I have seen, should they, yes
I believe they should, should the dealer, yes, before they even show you a trailer they should do such ... I will say than many
but not all dealers rely on the buyer to find the problems with new trailers, they do a quick look over in most but not all case's ... The Tech doing our PDI had inspected the roof an replaced a vent, ran water thought the trailer, checking the shower, fossets drains, dishwasher an checked for leaks under sinks... He also pointed out while doing our PDI that drain connections were
places that down the road may come loose under sinks an vents can be broken or come loose from tree branchs an inspect such every so often ...
On your dish washer I believe a simple hose clamp my fix the problem unless it on the unit it's self then the dishwasher needs to be replaced it's self, again unless run like you did the factory would not have known such an unless the dealers tech did such they would have not know of such ....
On the Convection Microwave I'd bet that when doing your PDI it still had the cardboard an stuff still in it, thus never tested by the dealer when received from the factory or being prepped for you before your PDI ... Both the factory when being installed an the dealer more than likely thought that since it was new it worked Ugh !!!
Good luck an glad your dealer is fixing everything
Safe Travels

Again I will not say the dealer for the most part is at fault, the factory also has a stake in this as well, even thought they do have factory workers following doing QC inspections like anything else they see the big things an will miss the little things ...

Chuck, I've heard it said, more than a few times, that mfrs assemble parts, but it's up to the dealers and owners to actually =finish= an RV. Cynical? You bet, but given the state of "quality" in the RV industry as a whole, not overly so.

Chuck - I totally agree that the dealer should have caught the leaks. In fact, they should have caught most of all the issues before we got the unit. They did run water through the unit - but the dishwasher doesn't leak when it runs. It leaks after sitting awhile after it is finished. I hope it is just a hose clamp - can't reach where I think it is leaking. They'll have to pull it out to do the fix. The microwave didn't have any cardboard in it but I don't think they tried it out otherwise they'd known it didn't heat water. The dealer said the floor wasn't connected in the front and they would do that when we bring it in. Unless they are blowing smoke they never mentioned that this was acceptable. The awnings are a poorly designed product and the placement of the gutter downspout doesn't help matters. It drains water right onto the motor on one of the awnings.
I just want everything to be fixed and we can relax and enjoy. I've said it before, we love the design and once the bugs are out we will love the camper.

On the dishwasher, if you look at the very top of the dishwasher an under the counter you will see two screws, these two screws are the only thing that holds the dishware in ... Take these two screws out an unplug the dishwasher in the cabinet next to the dishwasher an your dishwasher will slide out to the point you can look at the back of such if you turn it toward
the front of the trailer an you should be able to see the drain line since it is on the bottom left side of the unit ...
Of course if your dealer is going to fix such I wouldn't worry about such but at least now you know how to take it out an where to look if needed
