It's only a matter of time before I spill something that mats or stains the carpet of the kitchen slide. I can't imagine why they would even put carpet under a refrigerator and oven. I want to replace it, preferably with wood look vinyl, but an engineered wood plank floor or laminate wood look floor would be ok too. My question is how to attach it? Does it need to be floating like the trailer floor, or can it be securely glued down? Will the peel and stick vinyl strips stay attached, especially on the perpendicular front of the slide? Have you done it? Any suggestions before I start? What did you do about the carpet that wrapped under the slide? Here's a picture of the little bit of carpet on the kitchen slide.

At the factory it was asked about the carpet an why it was used in an around the slides in the main part of the trailer ....
I believe the comment was made that they put carpet there to make the slides, slide easier but I'm not sure since I only heard it out of my bad ear LOL ...

I wondered about that, and figured I would leave the carpet on the bottom, mainly because I don't think I could get it off. One of these days I want to replace the carpet on the dinette slide too and reduce the amount of carpet overhang. One of them will be good experience for the other. Carpet in an RV that goes to parks is just such a bad idea.

Well marlee What you may do, may not be what others may do an thus they build these things as general use an not specific use ...
So even thought you may do allot of boon docking an stay at state/national parks others may just have them sit in a camp
site all summer long .... That's why we all work hard like you on making our trailer fit our needs an make it our home
away from home like you are doing along with us an many others
We like the vinyl because of our dogs, now one dog but, we also like the carpet under our feet in the bedroom, under the
dinning room table, unlike you we do not have any carpet in the kitchen or island area, only a small peace under the theater
seating a small section across from the entry door an as stated under the dinning room table ... In fact we bought rugs for
the hallway, an bathroom which has vinyl an from the end of the main kitchen island to the pantry along with large dog pillow in front of fire place for dogs
Again I'm not saying your wrong in your thinking, I think it's cool that you are making it what you want an thinking outside
the box ... As you can read in other folders lots of owners are doing the same thing, making their trailer their own, in fact I
don't remember what folder but someone was thing about putting engineered wood plank floor or laminate wood in the
Safe Travels

You're right, and carpet has it's place. I like it in the bedroom too. I just don't like it where food and drink are often spilled. I know they do it because it's easy on slides.

I knew it was just a matter of time. I figured it would be something that spilled over from the stove and stained the carpet, but I think this is far worse. Last night Hubby spilled a tub of water right in front of the stove and the carpet was soaked right there. He ripped out the visible carpet and the slide is painted with black paint of some kind. Does that continue all the way under the slide too?
At first I thought it was a plastic piece like the other slide, but close inspection shows the wood grain, especially on the edge.

I know I see black membrane under my slides but have not see any black paint or vinyl under such an didn't really look which tour the builds at the factory, sorry Safe Travels Chuck

Edd I remember you telling me about that at the rally, I wish we would have had one of those the week before our Great Dane had to be put down, he made a real mess of the carpet in the bedroom ... Hand scrubbing a carpet is no fun an I had to wait till we got home to use carpet machine we have for the house to go back over the carpet in the trailer ... I have put the Bissel on order today Safe Travels my friend Chuck

Chuck, not the carpet on the main floor. I want to get the carpet that wraps around the front edge of the slide. There seems to be black paint on the slide, but can't tell how far the carpet is wrapped under the slide.
Edd, I saw one of those at Target yesterday and thought about buying it.

Marlee,
There is some videos on you tube I noticed last week about changing carpet out for other types of flooring, I would check that out and see if it can help your situation / get a better understanding whats going on. YouTube is a great place to find any video on pretty much anything your trying to do.
