I had installed an GoPower IC-2000 inverter with 4 6v batteries.
I'm considering a Progressive 50a hard wired EMS with remote read out.
Not sure where to install it.
Either before the inverter or after. The inverter has a remote read out also.
The original converter is still mounted, but not used. Its only there just in case.
Anyone use the inverter in the same way, or installation pointers?
Thanks, Al

I use a portable surge protector ... no installation needed ... but however you go, put the surge protector before the inverter. You want to protect the inverter and everything else. IMO.

But, I think when I consider the cost of a portable vs hardwired I think the hardwired is cheaper, overall, in that I don't have to let my mind forget it!
Like the Ronco guy said years ago - "Set it and forget it".
Not sure yet.

We had a Progressive 30a hard wired EMS with remote read out in are old trailer, loved it, we now have the external surge protector an wish we would have went with the Progressive 50a hard wired EMS with remote read out in the new trailer which I may still do in the future With the external surge protector it a pain an cumbersome when storing even thought we have the MorRyde real to store are 50amp power cable Safe Travels Chuck

No argument about hardwired or portable, my only point was to put the surge protector before everything else ... so that everything (including the inverter), is protected. Same philosophy I personally follow with the water filter ... it comes before the pressure regulator and fresh water hose, so that they are protected.

Thanks, I'm leaning toward the hard wire for now.

Mine is mounted behind the boards in the lower storage area after the 50 Amp plug comes through the wall (inside of the trailer). Mine was put within reach so that my remote read out screen is in my switch panel. I love it and had the dealership install it before I brought it home.
We use to have the external EMS on our old 30 amp TT.

Thanks, Al One thing I forgot to say is there is enough wire provided with the Progressive 50a hard wired EMS with remote read out that you could put the readout below your panel that has the readouts for you black, fresh an gray water tanks along with your hot water switches... Thus you do not have to walk outside an look at what is going in you can just look at it under you other panel, this what we did on are old 5th wheel an I am going to do it on our current trailer when I get home

I use the 50 amp portable from progressive. I think it was around $350 from Amazon. After reading here and irv forum for a year or so before deciding on our Durango 380FLF I decided it was probably a wise investment or insurance.
