I just got a Sportsmen 331bh. This is my first camper. We have a large family. Me and my wife were looking at the slides and she asked if we needed to support the slides when in use. The salesman said nothing about doing this. Is this needed or recommended?

My mom and dad have three slides on their rv that are huge and support couches recliners and people. They have had RVs and trailers for a number of years and use no supporting. The slides are made to do their job without, beside jacking it up from the bottom could cause other damage plus if you over do it the slide will be holding up the trailer. I will not support mine either but my slide is just a 5' dinette.

bigdaddynj said it all--the slides are made to support themself without jacks. You will do more harm then good if you try to support them.

As already mentioned, no supports necessary. Enjoy!

Likewise, I never use supports under my slides... it's not needed.

Well, it wasn't a stupid question. I think it's been made clear that supports aren't needed.
