Hello all! Thanks for the add.
The wife and I have been prancing around the idea of purchasing a travel trailer for the last 4 years. After looking over floor plans, wants, needs, etc., looking at numerous dealers and brands, we think we’ve found “The One.” The Sporttrek ST327VIK. Our local dealer has a 2019 model. If I am not mistaken, research on the VIN does confirm a 2018 build year. We’ve been to the dealer twice, and done fairly thorough walk thrus to inspect and compare the quality of fit, finish, and materials. Honestly, I was more impressed with the interior fit and finish of the Sporttrek than I was with any Sprinter, Passport, Outback, or Imagine models that we looked at. All of the visual inspection of material appeared to be comparable, which still leaves the vital, hidden systems or construction to question in any of them.
Overall, for the lesser educated, visual buyer, Venture/Sporttrek has done a great job!
Now, as I lead closer to the ultimate questions for everyone... We will be a first time owner, however, not inexperienced or new to the TT/5r/camping lifestyle. My mother and stepfather are long time owners, along with several other family members and friends. I am a very handy, mechanically inclined, and resourceful being, and have had plenty of dealings with the normal maintenance, repairs, and perils that come along with a camper. In general, I know to expect systematic issues, and have the capability to repair plumbing and electrical issues. Keeping up with the maintenance and inspections, seals, roof, etc.. I have the ability to reattach trim with a finish nail, hammer, and nail set, or even build cabinetry from scratch.
In short, I am not afraid or turned off by the “normal” maintenance, repairs, and upgrades that any home, vehicle, or Home on vehicle requires. My concerns are the Skin, bones, and vitals of the system.
Now that I have lost everyone’s attention, can anyone tell me what your experience has been with Sporttrek products? I’ve read as many reviews as I could find, which there isn’t a real abundance. The majority don’t seem to be any worse than what should be expected from any TT in this price point and weight/size ratio. I’ve also read some which mentioned delam, however, water intrusion was typically stated as well. One, possibly two, which mentioned an interior/exterior crack in the laminated wall, by a slideout.
The 1 year warranty vs the 2 year on KZ products is my greatest concern. And that question would be “why?”
Any input and experiences, good and bad would be appreciated!
If you made it this far, I thank you!
