I know from previous research that an Inverter Generator is suppose to be better for a travel trailer and it's electronics. How are you guys hooking up your 50 amp power supply to your generators? All of the generators I can find are 30 amp. Even the 120/240 4 pole connections are limited to 30 Amps on the Honda 7000 I looked at.
I have a large portable, (kinda), generator that is 12,500 Surge and 9500 Running Watts, but it to has 30 Amp plugs.
We Like to run the A/C, A/C's while we pack the trailer before we leave on a trip. (Parked in front of the House). We are pacing for 6 people, making beds, storing food, drinks, etc.
This trailer is my first 50 AMP. My last was 30 Amp and I wired the second A/C on a separate 110 cord and would plug it into the 20 Amp 110 circuit on the generator to have both A/C's.

ragecajun We have a Honda 6500ISU that has the same thing, one 30 amp outlet, we only run one AC unit at a time, use the one during the day in the living area an the other at night in the bedroom before we go to bed to cool the bedroom if needed, it seems to keep our 384RLT pretty darn cool, in fact I call it the meat locker it gets so
cold in it We use a dog bone adapter to hook up the the 30amp side of the generator an only use one outlet for the 5th wheel even thought it's 5oamp I have not gone down that road of using the other 20amp side of the generator since the 30amps seem to work just fine an we only run the one AC unit as I stated at a time ... We have a friends that have Honda 3500's which is next smaller Honda an theirs seem to work very well with their TT 's , they both have air a air conditioner that is the same size as one of ours but not two like we have
The Honda 3500 sticks below bed rails an has the 30 an 20amp outlets

I run the Champion 3100I and it will run a single A/C. With the 50amp you will only have 30 Amp on any generator so you need to adapt the connection to 30 amp with a pigtail. You will have to learn to manage power IE: A/C no micro wave. Want the micro wave turn off the A/C. You'll trip breakers if you over load the generator.

You could also use a 30 & 20 to 50amp adapter.

Adapters / pigtails are something you need to carry anyway, it's a must for your tool box as far as I am concerned You should have at least a 30amp to 50amp, 30amp to 20amp pigtails, I also carry a 25ft heavy duty lead cord, you never know when you are going to need them ... Safe Travels Chuck
