I have a 2014 Durango Goldrush Nugget that I have owned since it was new, it has been maintained well and there really have not been too many issues until now.My issue is my kitchen slide out, the bottom of the slide out has somehow got water in it and rotted. I now have to replace the whole bottom. The dealer and insurance company have no answer. The dealer said this is something that has been going on for quiet awhile. I sent photos to KZ and am asking for assistance with this as it is going to be very expensive to repair, but have not received an answer from them. Is there anyone out there that has experienced this? If so, would you please e-mail me and let me know what the cause was and if KZ was willing to help resolve the issue. My e-mail is rickorpatlove@gmail.com.

Generally speaking the reason the floor rotted is that somewhere on that slide you developed a water leak. It would be helpful is we had some photos as to where the floor is rotted this may help in pinpointing the source. there are a couple of common spots on all slides regardless of the manufacturer.
A) slide awning/cover anchors/anything that is screwed into the slide B) the seal/caulking around the outside slide flange C) the transition seal from the rubber roof to the upper slide flange (normally taped) D) the actual rubber slide seals E) window seals F) RV refrigerator vents or stove/oven exhaust vents G) any place that is sealed with silicone used as caulking
As you can imagine there are numerous places that water can invade the interior without your knowledge and cause serious damage in a short period of time. All are considered parts of normal maintenance to inspect or have inspected on a regular basis. I highly doubt that KZ will cover anything or even help with the replacement costs. But you can always ask.
If you don't ask you will never know.

One of the mfrs, can't remember off-hand, had an issue with the covering on the bottom of some of their slides that would wick water underneath from the outside. As it was right up against the bottom wood, it would then rot it. Don't know if KZ ever had this issue, but it =is= known. Jetzen has a pretty comprehensive list of causes, so I can't add but this one thing. As it is, I'd be willing that it's going to take a full-on slide removal/rebuild. Frankly, that might best be done back at the factory. I'd keep hammering on KZ about this, especially at it might be a =paid= repair and not warranty to them, though if you =do= find a mfr defect, they could still end up eating all, or part, of it.

I hate to say this but since the trailer has been out of warranty for a few years Kz more than likely is not on the hook for any repairs ... If you had the forever warranty or something similar like the Good Sam warranty then you might be able to recover some of the expense ... Most Rv Dealers or RV shops can not or do not have the ability to pull an replace slides as I have found out, as stated the factory can at a very large expense to you or your insurance ... As jetzen stated there is a ton of ways that water can get into a trailer no matter how well you keep it up ...
You as the owner have to be on guard all the time to keep water, rodents an bugs from destroying your
trailer not the trailer MFG ...
Kz is a good company an are willing to help owners to a point, but in this case I'm sorry to say that they will tell you they are not on the hook for any of the repairs since your trailer is out of warranty an this problem has been an ongoing problem for some time... You as the owner should have detected this long
ago before it came to this point or before your unit was out of warranty is I'm sure what they are going to tell you unfortunately ...
This is why I bought into the forever warranty program, it may cost me a few hundred dollars a year but if in the future something like this happens to my trailer I at least have something to fall back on to get repairs done ... They may not pay for everything that has to be repaired but every dollar I do not have to spend is money saved overall ...
Here's hoping you do not have to go broke fixing your unit, please let us know how it turns out
Safe Travels
