I have questions about this trailer. I recently came out of a 31’ Zinger Bunkhouse bumper pull, which was totaled by slide seals leaking.
How well are KZ built? Do they leak like other manufactures? The Lippert slides are identical to my Zinger.
Any thing to look for specifically when looking at this trailer?
Anyone have any experience with this trailer? Anyone know why it was only made two years?

KZ trailers are built good in my opinion. I'm on my 3rd one since 2007. I like KZ and while they are built good, it doesn't mean they are perfect. NO trailer is perfect. As for as this model number, I don't have any idea why they only made it one model year. It is possible that they made quite a few that year and the sales did not follow so they discontinued it. Or, as manufacturers (all of them) do from time to time, they still make one very similar but made changes to the floorplan which created another model number. They still have several models of Durango Golds (I have one) and you can go down to the Durango folder to read more on the Golds. Good luck finding a replacement trailer!

ragecajun We do not own a Durango Gold G372BHF, but own a G384RLT now for over a year, we live in the Northwest were we get allot of rain, we camp from March thought October. So far the seals on the bedroom an the living room slides have worked very well with no problems... Here is a thread I post some time ago regarding Kz kzfamilyforum.com/thread/1681/buy-kz-trailer an my experience with Kz an our trailer ... Also there is a PDI list I try to keep up under the "Want to purchase a Kz RV" which you have posted, as well there is a number of posts under the "Durango" folder on this form as rvdude has stated ... Thank you both for replies.
RVDUDE, any issues with the Texas Heat?
Chuck, I have read that thread and several others, while awaiting approval to post on this forum, since Sunday.
I planned to GoPro the PDI on the next trailer purchase. I'm almost positive we will get this trailer, although I must admit, the Open Range has been my all time favorite for the past several years, but would cost me almost $20K more for the same trailer in a 2019 model.
I have been busy today researching 5th wheel sliding hitches for this trailer. The current trim weight is 13,100lbs and max loaded is 14,995lbs.
My tow rig is a 2016 F250 Crew Cab 4WD Diesel and it is close to max weight (GCVWR). I have already installed Air Lift Ultimate 5000 Air Bags with the wireless compressor and remote (Easy install in the driveway with a friend handing me wrenches), along with my Titan 50 Gallon tank.

I have only had it just short of 2 months, but so far the Texas heat has been no problem for me. I do live in it, and I only use 1 ac at a time and have stayed cool so far.

Sounds as if you have it covered ragecajun, we have air bags on our 1 ton F350 Lariat DW 4x4 CC camper package, even thought the truck road pretty evenly it made the ride a bit smoother an the bumps a hole lot better Last year traveling in the mid west an east we seen allot of high 90'es, the DW hates hot weather so the trailer was like a ice box most all the time with only one air conditioner running, I have to say it didn't take long to cool down at all ... Like I have posted I am a believer in Kz, do they have there problems, yes, but looking at other brands I am a firm believer you get more bang for your buck than with the higher end MFG's where you are paying much, much more for basically the same thing if not less in some case's ... We can afford high end an have looked at many of the high end 5th wheels, yes, they had lots of what I call bing an glamor an were all dark inside, but not much functionality as far as we were concerned... The Kz products we looked at had some bing, but the functionality an lightness inside an the way they were built sold us 100 percent an the price wasn't bad either BTW we bought the show model that was on display at the local RV show in 2017, we saw it the 3rd day of the show, so you figure there was possibly a few hundred people trapping thought the trailer pulling twisting, turning things... With other higher end trailers we saw lights out, trim coming off inside, dark colors, an things that were just not to our liking till we walked into out now G384RLT were we saw none of this ... The dealer that had our KZ did also sell Montana trailers as well an had them on display but the functionality an lightness inside an the way the Kz was built just talked to us as to say take me home, no other trailer did this After the DW sat down inside the 384 she looked at me an said "this is the trailer I want" Even thought I have inflicted some pain to the trailer my fault the trailer has pulled well, set up with at camp site way easier than our old Coachman Cappy or our Class C before that an we are still happy with the way the trailer is built an preforms after a year of bouncing around thought out the country on our camping trips ... We put a deposit down today, to hold the trailer...
We did a second walk thru and found multiple items that needed to be fixed. This trailer is brand new but was lost in their inventory at their Spring store.
How many Televisions did y'alls trailer come with? This trailer has three mounts, but no televisions anywhere in sight.
Chuck, I did not realize that you were from the San Antonio area, until reading a thread last night.
We are SE of Houston, in Pasadena.
Last year in Kerville it was 100 degree temps (my truck read 103 coming home), and my old trailer struggled to keep up. Had the same luck in Galveston. The trailer would warm up to low 80's inside. I installed a second AC and it was much better.

ragecajun,
I bought mine at the Spring store in April. This is the second one I've bought from there, one in 2007 and now this one. As for the TV's, mine came with one in the living room and one in the bedroom. Sometimes dealers remove the tvs from trailers to keep them from "walking off". I would definitely make them give you tvs. KZ most likely sent them with the trailer when it was new.
I hope all goes well with your repairs and purchase. They did the things I wanted done before purchase, and have done me good after purchase so far. My ladder was bent and they ordered one for me, I still have to drop by and get it installed. I think you will enjoy the trailer once you get it and start using it.
And howdy neighbor from about 20 minutes away.

I was working at Ft Sam Houston at their high frequency radio station before coming up here an also lived in Amarillo, Odessa for a few years in my younger days I have been trying to move back to Texas for some time but the DW I am married to now as I stated hates hot weather, but I would really like to move to east of Austin if we were ever to get back there ... Ok on putting a deposit on the new trailer, make sure if you have the newer awning that they do the recall on such, as well do my PDI list an please, please get a creeper an look under the trailer as well as on top As I'm sure you know don't sign anything tll all is fixed, as rvdude stated they treated him well an I hope the same for you .... What newer awning? How would I know if it is the older or newer version? This is a brand new 2016 model.

ragecajun A 2016 should not have the newer awning on it do the fact they just started putting them on trailers in 2018 from the factory... I'm sure rvdude can tell you what to look for in the new version awnings since I have yet to see one... But I don't believe the dealer would have changed out such to attract buyers to a 2016 trailer even thought it is new, but I have been wrong more times than I can count LOL Safe Travels Chuck

They started putting the new type awnings on the late build 2018's, so I doubt very seriously that you have them. Stand outside looking at the trailer, look at the bottom, right arm of the awnings. The new ones have controls right there on the arm to open, close, and turn the light on and off.

Chuck,
This model had 3 TV Mounts.....Master Bedroom, Living Room, and Bunkhouse....
There are spots to mount them outside, but no mounts installed.
I was a harda$$ on our second trip through the unit, to have them fix every little thing I saw out of place.
I pointed out exterior the trim, (missing and removed), and cracked Silicone, as well as the missing interior stair rail handle, missing shower door glass, missing TV's, missing Outside Shower accessories/pieces, 1- missing curtain rod in Bunkhouse, Broken closet slide handle in master, Broken LCI Hydraulic Auto Level Panel Outside, etc...
I see a blue coiled hose only and grill under the unit, (in storage compartment), What else is it suppose to come with??? I have never looked at these units before. I have caught the salesman in several small lies already, so I'm not real trusting when he speaks. (It is my job as a Patrol Officer to listen and Remember what someone told me, even if it was the week before).

There should be the blue coiled hose for the outside shower, if your spare tire is mounted underneath there should be a crank rod similar to one like the travel trailer jack cranks use, of course the power cord. I'm not sure what else you should expect to be in the basement. That's all I can think of right now.
I hope all goes well with the purchase and the trailer. I had a few times where I'm glad I knew what I wanted because my salesman sure didn't know anything...

what all does the outdoor shower come with? All this trailer has is a blue coiled hose.....no spray nozzle or anything else....more like an outdoor hose only...
will definitely make them show me how to lower the spare and check tire pressure on it. I already purchased new Goodyear tires for it at Discount Tire....the Ones on the trailer are already 4 years old and the dealership stated that they were allowed to sell tires 5 years old or newer and that there was no money left in the deal to exchange them.....they tried to "hook/set me up" with their local tire shop down the street for 4-China bombs for $500.....I got my 4 Goodyear Endurance tires with Road Hazard Certificates and 2 mail in rebates for $579 (after rebates). If all goes wellI will have these installed Saturday and sell the "new take offs" on Craigslist for $100 - $150.
They should be fine for a utility trailer for a few years....just don't trust them on a 14,000 lb trailer...

Went to complete PDI today...
Right off the bat the salesman tried to tell me that we sign all paperwork before PDI is complete and that was the owner's rules... I told him no, that I'm not signing anything until the PDI is complete. He got butt hurt, but will get over it, eventually, or Not...I didn't really care.
I started observing several other items, (about a page and a half worth), I missed in my second walk thru before the PDI began and several items I already pointed out, that they did not fix. The salesman stated that I could get them done during my first warranty service, and I quickly stopped him and told him, that in no way, was I taking a trailer that needed repair...
The Lead technician had been off all week long with an injury, but was there today and he was fantastic. I started showing him items that needed attention and he quickly became upset at his employee, who failed at fixing, cleaning, repairing, etc several items. He stayed with me for over 2 hours as we checked items and found new items that needed repair.
He really became pissed off when I went on the roof and observed that it:
1) Had not been touched or caulked like the salesman told me would happen,
2) Found a crushed vent as soon as I stepped off the ladder.
3) Found multiple holes/bubbles in the caulk that were not corrected.
4) And showed him that neither the roof or trailer had not been washed like he was told it was.
The trailer was already heavily discounted to a level that I could afford, so they were unwilling to lower the price early on. I went around the salesman today and contacted the store manager and service manager, to make a deal.
They are adding/installing a second battery to the trailer, installing my roof top vent covers, and installing a Progressive Industries Hardwired Surge and Electrical Protector, that I am buying....

Good for you ragecajun
I like you would not pull a trailer off the lot till everything is fixed, I keep trying to tell people that they in no way should sign anything till the PDI is complete an repairs are done to their satisfaction
Glad you have it figured out, sounds as if the trailer was in the back row an abused, parts borrowed in some case's like the TV's an as you say forgotten ugh ...
On the TV's if there is three mounts then there should be three TV's
Since I could not climb on the roof I ask for a lift to look at it, I also ask for a creeper to look under the trailer, Tech stated I was the 1st one to ever ask for such ...
Our salesman had been a tech before he was a salesman, so he was pretty darn knowledgeable an I didn't try to BS us in any way, I tested him a couple of times with trick questions an he would laugh an say your trying to test me aren't you LOL ...
When going back to the dealer a few times I did not see our salesman at all, ask where he was, they
stated he was off, either he has a lot of time off or he has moved on because he was never there ...
I had dealing with salesman that try to feed you a line of BS an don't know there backside from a hole
in the ground, I have walked away from a couple of car deals an one trailer deal because of this ...
Again Glad you have it figured out
Safe Travels an happy Glamping

Wow on the signing before the PDI. They did not even try that with me, thank goodness. I hope you get it all worked out and have many good years of fun and memories with the new trailer.

thank you both
I hope they are ready next time for the PDI.....
Chuck....They fixed the shower door glass and installed three TV's with remotes......1 Furrion in the Living area and to Sensui (I believe) in the bedrooms. All three have remotes. I made it seem like a big deal, but we do not turn them on, or even plug in a coax cable when we camp.
I learned about the no signing or leaving with the trailer from this great site......this is my first ever new trailer purchase...
