We own a 2013 Durango FW. The vinyl/leather like material covering the sofa and chairs started cracking about 2 years ago and has been flaking off since. It has become so bad that it makes a terrible mess all over everything. Have other KZ owners experienced this issue? Is this common? We have been shopping for replacement furniture but finding something that will fit has proven difficult.

Upholstery in RVs is bottom of the line, your best solution might be to rebuild of improve the framework as needed, replace the foam with better material and have an upholstery shop recover with quality material.
You can shop around for furniture, but stay away from that which was made for RVs because quality again will be an issue. Some have had success finding sizes that will work, but that is rare.

To answer your question more specifically, yes it is a common problem with the ultra fabric upholstery to have the material crack and flake and to have the foam cushions deteriorate. It is more prevalent in the darker colors (black, dark brown) and models that are front living rooms. It is mainly due to the intense heat and sunlight that occurs when the trailer is not in use. Some of the thing that you can do to help prevent this is to have you shades drawn all the time, keep it clean and use an approved for ultra fabric conditioner. These thing only help. Be assured that if you purchase residential furniture with ultra fabric it will still happen and the foam in the cushions will still deteriorate from the heat. it's a no win situation. Genuine leather and a quality cloth material will hold up much better but you will always have the issue with the cushions.
How do you know if it is ultra fabric? 2 main factors the price and ultra fabric usually "feels softer". You also need to depend on an honest sales person.
What is ultra fabric? there are 4 manufacturers of "ultra fabric". Brisa, UF2, Ultratech and Ultraleather. all but Ultraleather are made of polyurethane on a rayon backing. Ultraleather is genuine leather scraps ground up and mixed with polyurethane on a polyesther backing
I Think.
Some contend that the Ultrafabrics/leathers come from the selective breeding of the elusive Nauga, to which they use the hide from the babies because they are slower and easier to catch and their tanned hide is softer. I can not confirm this.
You may want to try Lay-z-boy or Ashley furniture for replacements.
Lambright furniture in Shipshewana will custom make furniture for you Durango at a cost slightly more than Lay-z-boy.

I feel your pain. I've replaced the couch and theater seating in my 2015 Goldrush for the same problem. When I purchased the RV used the couch was missing? When I wiped down the theater seating with a damp towel I understood why. I now have a "home furniture store" bought couch and 1 recliner. The recliner was an easy find and fit. The couch took a while. You have to find something with lower armrests and usually removable feet. Mine is two 42" ends of a sectional put together to make a 84" couch. I managed to get it all in by myself through a 24.5" door opening. Most of the couches I found you could not take apart, though some reclining couches the backs can be removed. Also most reclining couched don't have removable feet.

Thanks for the replies Estimates to reupholster the three pieces came in at $1300 and $1500. We would rather apply that towards replacement but we are unable to find examples that will fit. The two chairs need to be 30" wide max in order to clear the slide. The sofa needs to be 35" deep max to fit on the slide. After visiting numerous furniture stores with tape measure in hand we found a sofa at Ikea but it was so uncomfortable we wouldn't be happy with it. We found a sofa at Ethan Allen but at ~$4000. The only chairs we found narrow enough are lawn chairs
I'm going to tightly cover them with bed sheets until we can find a solution. We will most likely reupholster them at the end of the season.

If you mention where you are located, perhaps someone can direct you to different upholstery shops and stores that might be of help.

My last 5th wheel we had space restrictions also we found furniture from Ashley fit perfect and spent about $700.00. I shopped Ashley for my prior 5W and they were great about measuring. checking catalogues, etc to find the right size. The manager offered to order in what I thought I wanted, let me see how it felt when I sat in it. If I had not bought he was just going to put it in the showroom.
You will need something that the back can be removed to ease getting it inside the RV. You may find it won't fit if you can't take it apart.

Across the board Problems for every manufacturer for two years or so...
My 2014 Zinger had the same problem and it was a batch of bad material that affected all dealers for a two year model span. Some owners noticed it prior to their warranties expiring, other like me were not so lucky... I bought a Pet couch Cover and the trailer was totaled before I found a permanent solution.
