I was headed to Kansas city for the Nascar race and the D I C on my new to me 2015 Silverado gave me a warning that I needed to check trailer wiring, I pulled over and checked everything out, and discovered the electric brakes were not actuating, everything else was fine. In the campground discovered that the signal was not getting from the junction box by the pinbox to the axles, (I know it is not a truck problem as I hooked up to my friends 5th and it worked fine, and his truck wouldn't actuate my brakes). So... we got some wire, tapped (scotchlocks) into the brake wires by the driver side front axle, routed it to the junction box, and voila; got brakes. Now my question: has anyone experienced this? suggestions on where to start looking for the break? I really don't want to pull the whole underbelly if I can help it. Anyone know how they came off the romax looking line to hook on to the brakes? I'm thinking that would be the first place to look, but it is all hidden in the underbelly.

If you are very lucky, you might be able to pull the wire back enough to reveal the connections. If there is no fault there, maybe you could pull the wire out with replacement wire attached, thus replacing the entire run. Of course there is the possibility that the wire is secured and pulling it is not an option, necessitating the belly to be pulled down. The belly may or may not be a big deal depending on what might be sticking thru it. Mark the location of the panels so that lining up screw holes will be easier. Before doing a lot of work, check brake magnet connections and check the wires that cross in the axles for shorts and breaks.

Thanks Lynnmor, I know the problem has to be before the axles, because when I jury rigged the line from the junction box to the first brake, they all actuated. The underbelly has a lot of things coming thru it, all sealed with that black spray foam. Thinking also like you that the line is probably fasten to the I-beam periodically, at least it should have been. I am thinking I will probably create a "door" in the underbelly and hope the break is right there where all the connections should be.
