Has anyone found a way to keep ice cream? My freezer will make ice but any ice cream turns to milk shakes in it even set at max cool. Mines the RV gas/electric Norcold.

Unfortunately they call them "nocolds" for a reason. Your ice cream will most likely always be soft/runny. Your freezer section needs to be around zero degrees and on a good day an RV refrigerator will struggle to reach 20. So it very well will make ice but not near cold enough to keep "ice" cream.

My Norcold freezes ice cream just fine. It does take some time to bring down the temperature in an absorption type of a refrigerator, so don't expect immediate results when you put in the ice cream and turn it on. Turn on the refrigerator many hours before expected use and keep door opening to a minimum. You should post the model number so we can see what unit you have, there are some adjustments that can be made.

It's a 1210 Ultraline w/o ice maker, it has not been turned off since I got it in Feb. 17, it stays powered up at home. It will keep veggies frozen, make ice, but not keep ice cream. Guess I just have to be happy with milk shakes.

Apparently your refrigerator is in the slide, that requires that the instructions for installing baffles be followed carefully. Using the Installation Manual, inspect it carefully. Check that there is no debris in the area. Check that the fan(s) are running to exhaust the warm air. I had insulation scraps blocking air and no baffle installed. You do not have to accept the poor performance, it has a freezer that you paid for.

Yes it is in the slide. I'll look outside tomorrow and see what I find, that's the only access I am aware of.

ours is just the opposite. in 2 weeks there is so much frost on the ceiling and back wall its not funny. .. and that is at the fridge unit sitting at 2 for temp.

I'll add to the mix...
My darling bride always complains that the freezer does not stay cold enough. I checked the baffles, looked for debris, and confirmed the fan is working. No debris found. Both baffles are installed however I have a question about the sidewall baffle. According to the directions the top edge of the baffle should be at the bottom of the coils. Mine is at to the top. Could this be causing problems?

I am sure they won't let me drive in and get fixed. Leave it here and we will get to it, weeks later we have to order parts. I'll talk to the factory guys and see what they can do. Maybe it's normal, most say their freezers won't keep ice cream and I like shakes.

I'm a little late to this party, but here's my 2 cents. My fridge is the same, it just won't keep ice cream cold. Even if it's not very hot outside.
