Hi folks. We were in TX last weekend with our daughter and husband. We visited McClains RV in Corinth TX and they had a 384RLT on the lot. We loved it as soon as we walked into it! After searching for 3 years for a unit that felt like it could be our fulltime home, this was it! It feels so open when you walk into it, and the kitchen has great storage space. Also the wood is not dark like so many units we have looked at - sometimes I have felt like I am in a cave. Not so great for someone with claustrophobia issues! So now we need to order the dually diesel and figure out our retirement date - probably this fall. So my questions - is anyone on the forum familiar with McClains RV? The salesperson was great as was his boss, but that doesn't really tell me anything about the service department. Since our domicile state will be TX and our daughter lives in Carrolton, we would probably use McClains for some work when we are in state.... For those of you in a 384, do you have the theatre seats or the recliners? Can't decide which - the unit we looked at had the theatre seats... We are leaning toward the residential refrigerator. I love having the freezer on the bottom. Jim and I both read the forum thread on refrigerator choices. I need to do some more research. I am still uncertain how we would run the residential refrigerator when we are boondocking. We don't plan to do that too often, at least initially until we know what we are doing . For those of you with the residential refrigerator, can you tell me how you boondock with it? Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge on this forum! Those of us who are newbies really appreciate picking your brains!

kandj If you read in this folder you will see discussions on residential as well as RV refrigerators for an against, we have a RV frig an really like it, jetzen has a residential an really like theirs so you might find it's a push on asking that question LOL We now have had our 384 for over a year now an still love it, we have the theater seats an really like such, the only problem was that they were hard to set up straight once reclined at first, but now since we have used them allot they have become easier to set up straight We like you love the light colors inside an all the space there is in the cabinets an the storage space under the trailer as well ... There are I believe four or five Texan's here that have bought from different dealers in Texas, rvdude has just bought his 384 in the past month but not for the dealer your talking about but from a dealer I believe near Fort Worth ... Last as stated there are a number of us that own 384's so ask away, believe me it was a steep learning curve on learning all the bells an whistle's that the 384 has, even more has been added since we have bought ours ... From what i have read, "G" rated tires, newer awnings, different locations of light switches, upgraded sliding doors in the bedroom walk in an a few others, who knows whats next, there is even one own now of a 384 with full body paint ... Have fun an again welcome to the Kz Family Safe Travels Chuck

kandj, I don't know anything about McClain's for sales or service. If you don't mind driving a little bit from the Dallas area east to the Tyler area, there is a dealer called Athens RV in Athens, Texas that offers good pricing. I can't say anything about their service, I just know that when I was shopping for 384's, they came back with a really low price just from an internet price request. I ended up buying locally as they are over 3 1/2 hours from where I live and I am a full timer, so I didn't want any service issues down the road. Good luck with your shopping and purchase.

We purchased our 384 at Terry Vaughn's Rv in Spring Texas back in January. I can't tell you anything about the service department because we haven't needed them so far.

We purchased our 5th wheel at McClain’s in Corinth in March. There were a few hiccups but after speaking with the general manager he made everything right and we are happy with our trailer. One of the mini blinds has broke and I let the service manage know and that we wanted to use the trailer a few times to make sure everything else was good to go. He told me that was fine and just email when we wanted to get it fixed. McClain’s has been in business for a long time and I know a few people that have purchased from them without any issues. Good luck and happy camping

lfhenderson, I bought my 384 from Terry Vaughn in Spring last week. This is my second purchase from them, one in 2007 and now this one. I was blessed on the 2007 to have never needed any service, so I can't say anything for their service department. I hope I can be that lucky again, but with all of the electronic stuff on these things nowadays, I do have my doubts. Anyway, so far, so good.

Yeah... that will happen soon. I've had other things keeping me busy, like combining two trailers into one, and trying to find a place for everything. I'll try to get around to it tomorrow. On a brighter note, both of the trailers have been emptied and taken away and I'm not paying storage on the second trailer any more. I finally found the couch at the back of the trailer... there was so much stuff stacked around I barely had a trail to walk through. Trying to get everything at least "in a place" because I'll be taking it out for 12 days in 2 weeks.

Well, Chuck, since I live in this thing, I had to constantly work on it because all of the clutter was driving me crazy. I almost have everything in a place, still a few things laying around waiting for me to get done. Only problem is every time I need something... I can't find it because I don't know where I put it. It has to be movable in 2 weeks.

Shoot Darrel I have that problem of finding stuff even after it been in the same place for years LOL ... I had a really nice Dewall set of drills an screw driver bits in a bight yellow box, couldn't find it after a week of looking, thought I lost it off the back of my truck after working on a communications Van for our local Police Department an ARES Van ... So I bought another one, low an behold while in my Radio Shack I look over on the floor under the work bench an there it was on the floor Ugh, so now I have one for my traveling tool box in the 5th wheel an one for my work shop ... Got my work sheet for the rally, have two things that I need fixed, hope I have enough time to do such... Safe Travels Chuck

I have a few minor things I will get done at the rally... nothing major yet. I have to get the sheet filled out this week while I am off. I'm working nights right now and the only things that get done when I'm working is sleep, eat, work, repeat.
