Hi there,
Considering purchasing a 2017 Sportsmen Classic 181BH from a local dealer. Are there any known issues with that model I should be aware of? There is a guy online who claims the aluminum roofs of the Sportsmen Classics are crap. Truth or fiction (or disgruntled ex employee?)
Thanks everyone!

Properly installed an aluminum roof can be better than “rubber” roofs. Keyword is properly.

Ok?! Soooo... What should I look for when I climb the ladder at the dealer to make sure it is "properly installed"?
And should I caulked the crap out of the roof as soon as I get it?
Thanks a bunch!

Carl I'm not see a ladder 2017 Sportsmen Classic 181BH, so climbing on the top may not be a good idea ... Now saying such, you might ask the Tech that is doing your PDI to get a lift so you can see if the vents, an fan covers brackets (my term) are all sealed correctly an you see no places were there are holes or the aluminum is not appart anywhere on the roof ... There is more to a PDI then looking at the roof as I'm sure you know, but looking under the TT is as important as looking on top ... As well twist, turn, open, close everything, check an make sure the stove work, burners work, toilet flushes, were are drain points for the fresh water tank an hot water heater, were is the holding tanks both fresh an black water ... Make them show you everything twice maybe three times, turn on all the lights, make them turn on water inside an look underneath to see if there is anything running out, check to see furnace works ... I will tell you that once you leave the dealer an get home you will forget half of what they told you (we all have done such, trust me) so write it down or record an take pictures, take a marker an blue tape with you so you can mark stuff you may forget by placing tape on it an mark such ... Welcome to the Kz Family an the form Safe Travels Chuck

The roof on mine is fine, all sealed properly. I did kept an eye on snow accumulation... Just in case. On the PDI they also forgot to shut the fresh water tank drain valve... Wich is under the bunks, need a screwdriver to remove a couple of screws.
