I have a 2017 KZ Connect 241RLK travel trailer that did not come with a rear ladder. I have found that the roof will support a person working on it but cannot find any information that it will support adding a ladder. I have sent an email to KZ about this subject but have not heard back. Thanks for any information. Ric

Unless there is internal framework for a ladder, it is a bad idea. If and when KZ gets back to you, then you will know for sure.

I bought one of those adjustable ladders from Harbor Freight that can fold to several different positions to access my roof and blow off the slides. It's a little heavy and bulky, but it does the trick.

I also wondered about that as I just purchased 2018 Connect 241BHK I did buy a ladder through the dealership from KZ had them send it to the dealership & I picked it up there they gave me a set of schematics that showed right where I need to put the holes although I will also use a stud finder...from everything they told me It’s all been positive and not negative stuff they offered to do it for me but they were going to charge me more money than I wanted to pay to have it done and I’m handy enough that I ought to be able to do that at least. I am not an expert by any means on it but I would really be shocked if they didn’t put backers or studs to attach a ladder in every camper that they have as it’s an option these days. You just have to get the right spot you can’t choose where you want to put it.. in the Connect series that I have each camper is different some are on the left and some on the right According to the pictures that I have saw on the ones that they do mount.

Ric I got a quote from the KZ dealer in Sanger, TX that to add a ladder would be SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS! It is most likely set up for a ladder. I think they all are but I still would wait for KZ to get back to you. As far as the Cost I bet you would be better off taking it to an independent shop to be put on if you don't want to do it yourself. MYy 2021 241RLK had the ladder from the factory, $150.00 or so option and the dealer said it they were all set up for the ladder to be installed. The dealer in Sanger, McClains charges a premium for everything. They said they were making me a special deal well it starte out $6,000 dollars higher than the delaer in Waco sold me the same trailer and when they called me back they offered a price that was still $4,000 higher with about $600.00 less in options. I also had shopped the dealer in Tyler and they were still about $1,800 more than Waco at the time but they did tell me they would service the trailer if I wanted them to no matter who I bought it from.

Problem with using a "universal" ladder is it may not line up with any "backing" or support structure. My opinion is that unless the manufacturer installs a ladder, they probably don't want people up there on a regular basis.

Even the ladder installed at time of manufacturing doesn't hold much weight. 200lbs if I recall. (I'm 230) -- so we don't have a ladder built in, and instead carry a collapsible ladder.

I emailed KZ about the attach points for the ladder on our 2019 Connect 261RB and they responded that they could not tell me where the attach points were, that I would have to take it to a dealer. Seemed odd to me since the ladder was an option.

It's a $150 option if it's installed at the factory. If installed by a dealer, it's $150 for the ladder, $150 for the labor, and $400 for shipping -- the large size is what makes shipping so expensive. The ladder should be standard.

The ladder should be standard. Most RV roofs aren't made for regular use, so adding a ladder only encourages abuse.
