Considering purchasing a roadside assistance plan for our Connect. Anyone have experience (good or bad) with Good Sam, Coach-Net or any other that you are willing to share?

I have AAA Plus RV. They say they will tow the truck and/or camper anywhere within 100 miles for free. I've had AAA for years. One time when the truck and camper were stuck and I needed help, they wouldn't pull the truck out with the camper attached. It was after that when I picked up the Plus RV. Wouldn't you know that I haven't needed it since then. LOL

I have the AAA plus RV... have never needed it while pulling trailer, so I don't know what to expect when I do need the services. I have used it for vehicles many times over the years with no problems.

I had AAA for many years but dropped them since they don't do RV's in my area. I use Coach-Net now. I wonder how AAA might perform when someone needs service in an area that doesn't participate.

Coach Net used twice, 1st 30 minute response asked driver if he needed signature, npe already paid. 2nd was major break down after crossing Wolf Creek Pass, just out of Cortez truck shut down while pulling 5W. Tow sent from Durango, about 1.5 hours wrecker followed by 3500 dully for trailer. My 5W was put in RV camp spot, truck to repair shop. Asked about what the cost was, $800+ asked for signature and I was done. Just too many bad reports on GS road side.

Wow, that's great. Coach Net sounds pretty good. Guess I better do some checking to see what AAA would do if I needed something while out somewhere.

I called AAA and sat on the phone for 10 minutes explaining everything. They said they would update me as to when to expect a tow truck. They called back 10 minutes later and said, "sorry, there are no garages within 3 counties of your location (20 minutes from my house) that work on RVs. You'll have to find someone by yourself and then you can submit a reimbursement request for the service." Are you kidding me? They just basically left me on the side of the road. How long have I been paying for AAA Plus RV and there aren't even any service centers within a 3 county radius of where I live? I got it for peace of mind... I don't have any now.

I have the Good Sam plan. It was super cheap for the two-year price. I also have roadside on my insurance through All State (and progressive for the camper). I also get free AAA from The American Legion and American Motorcyclist Association. If anyone belongs to organizations like that (AMA, American Legion, VFW, NRA, etc.) check with them. They may have plans that come with your membership that you might not have none about previously.
Thankfully, I have yet to use them.
Speaking of blowouts, I'm swapping my Trailer Kings out for some Goodyear Endurance upgrades next week. I'm not going to knock on wood.

We had AAA Plus RV several years ago until I found out that they only towed the one disabled. I talked directly to AAA and they confirmed that if the tow vehicle was disabled the TT would be left on the roadside until we could make arrangements to get it to a location. I do not know if this policy has changed but I would recommend asking this upfront. I have GS but never used it, I am a little concerned after reading the above information about GS. I will be interested in others comments.

There was a guy who happened to be in the parking lot where I pulled over. He was looking at something for sale. He came over right after AAA called me back to say I was on my own and said he knew a guy who owned a towing company nearby. He called his friend and the tow truck was there before I could get the spare down and the lugs loose.
Thanks for good samaritans!

Good Samaritans are a rare breed these days. Glad you were lucky enough to find one.
I guess I need to give AAA a call and check with them. I've had AAA plus RV for years and it sounds like I don't have anything at all. It expires in November, so I have a few months to check other plans out and get the right one for me.

In my area, AAA does not offer RV roadside assistance, so it would seem that there might be a problem for those traveling thru and needing service.

I wonder if there are "non-service" areas with Coach Net and Good Sam as well. Looks like I have a lot of homework to do between now and November.

I wonder if there are "non-service" areas with Coach Net and Good Sam as well. Looks like I have a lot of homework to do between now and November. Just to be clear, we were members of AAA for many years, but when I asked for RV coverage, they told me that it is no longer offered in my area. I dropped AAA and went to Coach Net because of nationwide coverage. Apparently each AAA "club" can make some of their own business decisions. While someone from out of the area might have AAA RV assistance, the questions are: Are there local towing companies with a AAA contract that includes service to RV owners from another distant club? Are they equipt to handle motorhomes, large trailers and fifth wheels? Will AAA pay for service from a non-member towing company?

I wonder if there are "non-service" areas with Coach Net and Good Sam as well. Looks like I have a lot of homework to do between now and November. My last break down (major above) near Cortez,Co nothing in the area which was 8 miles wrecker was sent from Durango 50 miles away. As I called I was thinking I never changed my TV. I told them I had not called & they asked for the 5W info, along with vin - covered the 5w was on the policy. They called and asked if the wrecker was there yet, it was just pulling up. I have never seen a negative post on Coach Net, can't say the same for Good Sam & a couple others. As long as I am towing they will cover me.
