Thankfully mine, does not have that set up. But I can tilt the awning, I have to pull down on the arm, and it can be angled, to shed water or move with the sun. The arm we were instructed to pull is the lowest joint closest to the trailer. When you look at it, it makes sense. When you are ready to retract, just push it back to its original position. We couldn't figure out to adjust angle, a guy walked up and did it, his was same. Maybe this helps

Chuck hit the nail on the head:Glitz, Gadgets and Bling sell. And are a PITA to fix-if they are fixable, but the first time buyers aren't aware of all that. How many people are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. RV buyers vs how many are first time buyers? Bet there's a =lot= more repeat customers than newbies, and =that= should be the target market. How many of us like having the shade that our awnings give us and how many of us are pissed that we have to roll the awnings up when the wind blows more'n 15 mph? Yeah, there's bandaids, but the fact remains that there shouldn't =have= to be bandaids. I'll take manual awnings any day so I can safely leave them out all day long and not have to deal with a hot trailer when 'docking. I'll take "standard" countertops and the extra CCC that would give me. I'll take factory wet bolts. The list goes on... Lyle Back when I was out there about 70% of our buyers were first timers. They get lots smarter by the second round. But then we weren't selling high end rigs, which is where I bet you find a lot of move up buyers. As far as all the do dads, I wouldn't have walked away if my Durango had a manual awning and actual switches for the slides. In fact if I was offered a choice I would have opted for the switches & manual awning. But the market demands touch pads and things you can run with an App, so here we are.....Marginally designed products that are difficult to fix, while the RV industry has to compete with every other industry for talented folks to fix these products. I do agree, there needs to be more focus on function rather than flash.

Had I had a 3500 and had =they= had a floorplan I liked, I could very well be towing one instead of a KZ. Another so-called upgrade or "convenience" is those d@mn steps that they all have now. I want an option to have something else. Lyle

As I have posted before one of the main reason we bought our Kz 384RLT was because of the room an there was not so much bling but more functionality ... As I see here on this form an other forms owners talking about they wished for this
an that, I look an say guzzzz our s already has that ... Some people may say that they guess we were just lucky but we shopped for a few years before we bought this trailer an liked how it was put together ....
Are an were there some problems, sure, our old 5th wheel even thought it was a top of the line Coachmen had problems
an we had to fix such ... I have to say Coachmen was not as supportive as Kz even though the people there were pretty
nice the support was really lacking from the factory unlike Kz were they bent over backwards so far to support us ....
I am glad we have the awning we have, our old trailer had the pull down awning an it was ok but I really like that I can
just push a button an ours roll out ....
Our old trailer had the steps that folded up into the lower side of the trailer an were bouncy an narrow, again anther plus
for buying our newer trailer was that the newer steps MorRyde steps were wide, stable an felt like we were at home an
not on a spring board at a swimming pool ...
Our old trailer had poor lighting, I had replaced it with LED lighting but it still as dark inside from both the lighting an the darker wood, the new trailer had better LED light an was much, much more lighter inside ...
As well the older trailer had manual landing gear were you had to stick a pin in the legs an then adjust such up or down with a control motor an the back stabilization of the trailer you had to lower the sizzor jacks with a drill ... Now I push a button either on one of the three touch screen on the trailer of from an APP on my phone to lower six legs instead of two legs a some jacks ...
But again I believe I got a better trailer for our money that what I had before with all the manual stuff on the old one, an yes we paid way more that the old one, but we got way more bang for our buck an way more room ....
Safe Travels an be safe

Here we are again - flashing green light on the exterior control module and the awning doesn’t work. Called LCI and they are going to replace the module and wiring harness with a “manual” (?) control (under warranty!). Not sure what that will entail, but I have contacted a local repair person who has worked on this problem in the past and he has ordered the parts from LCI. Waiting for him to call me back to schedule an appointment to come out and maybe FIX it for good! I really need this awning to work as the late afternoon sun hits that side of the trailer and heats up the door which is right across from the thermostat. This causes the temperature to be as much as 8° warmer by the door than at the dining table which is now at the back of the coach. The air conditioning runs constantly freezing us out unless I readjust it to 80°. Lousy place for that device, too.

After numerous modules and wiring harnesses, and repairs done by KZ, by Lippert, and by my dealer I finally told KZ that I wanted to do away with the NOT SO SMART ARMS (as I call them). KZ sent new awning arms to my dealer which are not the smart arms and so far both work great. I can use the inside control panel or my phone but I do not have any controls on the arm itself. I like the fact that the smart arms are gone forever.

LOL laknox, just think how much LCI had to eat in repairs, replacements an ear fulls from owners an dealers on many brands not only Kz ....
reading on the Forest River form I would say 90 percent 23 of there brands were screaming about the not so smart arms in one way or another ... Yes owner went though lot of B.S. an I agree they shouldn't have to but it also makes me wonder if LCI didn't take this to heart an changed the minds about the way the treated owners ... The reason I say this was the 2nd Kz rally the LCI Rep's were not so responsive to owners even though the worker bees for LCI were very responsive an worked hard in most case's ... Last year the LCI rep's were always present, Johnny on the spot to answer questions an help with any an all problems ... Again the LCI worker bees were also front an center an worked hard to fix any an all problems they were ask to do an even went above an beyond when doing repairs ...
So I have a feeling like most thing the Sh&% flow comes from the top, but I believe the bean counters may have reversed the flow an told the top they better get the you know what in order LOL !!!
