I agree... at least they always work and you can tilt them down to block the sun.

ChuckAB Better get in touch with your dealer an also call Lippert (LCI) an file a complaint before your warranty runs out ... Once you have a complaint filed with LCI you are on the record of having a problem an even if the Kz warranty runs out you still have a leg to stand on with LCI regarding your awning an it's repair if needed ... Safe travels Chuck Well, I FINALLY got the wiring harness replaced yesterday - under warranty. An RV dealer at one of our stops a few weeks ago helped us get the outside controller replaced, but the wiring harness also needed replaced. A trailer dealer at this stop also did warranty work and did the wiring harness piece. The awning now works as originally designed. I went one step further and took a 2”x2” square tube end cap, cut a notch in it for the wiring harness, set it in the top of the awning arm that attaches to the camper and covered it with Gorilla Tape. I had done this prior to getting the harness replaced and noted that it worked pretty good. I’ll be monitoring.... ChuckAB

We just got a new 2018 clearance model 256 rkt it came wit the smart arms . The dealer changed out the outside controller before we took delivery it was working fine but was a recall so they changed it . After reading this and many other posts about problems with them I put silicone on the connections. Has anybody had success sealing the connections? Looks like since it’s water getting in that’s causing the problem sealing it would solve the issue I thought it was worth a try. I really like being able to open and close the awning from outside but my dealer said they had problems with nearly all of the ones they had sold and they could disable the outside controller and just use the inside control. I’m going to use it till it quits

Works great.

I had one that I couldn't use from the outside module and Lippert replaced both of them while I was at the rally in August. SO FAR, both of them are working as designed from both the inside and the outside. Maybe they finally got it all figured out.

I just don't trust the outside modules. Ours are now set up to run just from the touch pad inside or on the phone app. We still have the controller sitting on the outside but they are disconnected.

Well, that didn’t last long. When I picked it up from the repair company, it worked. It worked later that day when I parked the camper back at the current campground. But 6 days later, it stopped working - again. When I pulled the outside control module, there was a tremendous amount of corrosion both on the plug and in the socket of the module. And there was a pin missing (found it in the plug - it had broken off) and another pin was loose.
I still have an open case with Lippert and now that I’ve decided to stop in Idaho for an extended amount of time, I’ll get with some local technicians to get it fixed - again.
Otherwise, most of the rest of the camper works fine. The only thing I haven’t attacked yet is the water heater not working on propane. Since it’s a 12 gallon heater, and we have always had at least electric, we both can take showers and still have hot water left while running on electric. But, it needs to work. And I’ll get there eventually....

Our water heater went out a week after we got it, called Suburban an they sent us to a dealer other than our dealer we bought from an it was fixed in less than a week (Bad curicut board) ..... Of course if your traveling leaving the trailer for even over night is a big hassle but one never know it may be a simple fix or possible Suburban can send a tech to the camp grounds you are staying at ...
Safe Travels an lets us know how it turns out an what it was so other may benifit from such

After the massive rains in the Houston area last week, I now have the green flashing light on the front awning once again. So, it's back to the dealer in October for that and a few other problems. Hey Lippert guys that are watching these threads regarding the leveling issues, do you have any ideas on how to keep these awnings working? ??

I tried operating the front awning today and even with the green flashing light it worked from the outside module and the inside control panel. So... I do still have 2 properly operating awnings at this moment.

So… after numerous modules and several wiring harnesses on my NOT SO SMART ARM awnings, I have gotten the approval of KZ to totally do away with them and have new awning arms installed on my trailer. Lippert is sending the parts to my dealer. The latest module and wiring harness was installed at the end of February this year and it lasted just over a week. I will still be able to use the inside control module and my phone, I just won't have to deal with the stupid smart arms.

Lyle The problem here is gadgets, gadgets an bling sell, old manual stuff dozen't sell
Allot of 1st time buyer see cool lights, gadgets like the smart arms, roller trays in storage area's, outside LED lighting but forget to look at the bones of the trailer, the more gadgets the higher the price an the more that can go wrong as you well know
Coming from a 2006 Coachmen Chappy 5th wheel to our G384RLT the DW was impressed with all the lighting an room in our trailer along with the leveling ... I was also impressed, but what I also saw was more problems with all the new stuff ...
Stay Safe

Chuck hit the nail on the head:Glitz, Gadgets and Bling sell. And are a PITA to fix-if they are fixable, but the first time buyers aren't aware of all that.

Chuck hit the nail on the head:Glitz, Gadgets and Bling sell. And are a PITA to fix-if they are fixable, but the first time buyers aren't aware of all that. How many people are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. RV buyers vs how many are first time buyers? Bet there's a =lot= more repeat customers than newbies, and =that= should be the target market. How many of us like having the shade that our awnings give us and how many of us are pissed that we have to roll the awnings up when the wind blows more'n 15 mph? Yeah, there's bandaids, but the fact remains that there shouldn't =have= to be bandaids. I'll take manual awnings any day so I can safely leave them out all day long and not have to deal with a hot trailer when 'docking. I'll take "standard" countertops and the extra CCC that would give me. I'll take factory wet bolts. The list goes on... Lyle

I'm glad I came across this thread today. I saw this awhile back and wanted to check mine as well. It came off the factory line the end of 2018. I wonder if they did anything with it?? I doubt it. Also I do not like them as well as my old manual ones on my 2007 New Vision. You can't dip them both down, get lower to the ground to shade from sun, hike up one side more than the other for rain. They suck. Only good is I push a button, they go out- they go in.
