Do you people travel with the window shades up or down. Been doing it for years with them down. Now I’m hearing that it’s wrong. Educate me on what you all think.

Depends on what type of shade you are talking about. My understanding is with the typical blinds found in RV's traveling with them up is good so they don't rattle and rub against the window frame, but that allows sunlight in which heats up and fades interior. But, traveling with them up puts strain on the locking mechanism as it is holding the shade up while the rig bounces along... If you are talking about roll up shades, I don't think it matters. Then we have the day-night shades. I found they may "creep" down over the course of a trip, depending on how tightly they are tensioned. In short, I really don't think there is a solid answer either way....but I have been proven wrong before. FWIW-I have blinds in my coach and I travel with them down.

I've always traveled with them up. I've had both the mini-blind and the day-night shade types. It is my personal opinion that they would swing and rub against the walls during travel. I'm not concerned with sunlight because I store my RV in a barn so I don't have the constant barrage of sunlight that a lot of people do.

I’m sticking with the “up” position. Makes more sense and it’s what I’ve done more frequently. Thank you gentlemen for convincing my wife.

I travel with them down. We have too much sun here in So. Texas. It's much cooler in the unit when we get to the campground. I also use a sunshield when parked in storage between the window and shade including the skylights. Our camper is about 20 degrees cooler.
