It took me months of looking online at Jaycos and Forest Rivers and everything else I could find. Months into searching, I finally stumbled upon KZ. The Spree 196S is perfect for my family of 4. Can't wait for the white stuff to melt and the temps to rise so we can go camping! Bummer is my nearest dealer is an hour away. Too bad KZ isn't more well-known. They seem like great trailers.

I have been camping for 8 years in tents graduating up from 7' igloo tent to 18x22 with 4 rooms. 3 for supplies and 1 for the girlfriend's shoes!
We went to the October RV Show in Toronto looking for a pop up but settled for the Escape E18RBT and bought the show model off the floor. I have since been to 3 more shows and have yet to find a better product of deal than I made in October.
My trailer comes out of free storage at the dealer next month and I am wondering if I need a hitch with torsion bars or is a plain hitch adequate for a Ford Escape to pull with. (Yes, I have an Escape pulling an Escape) Both are rated 3500 lbs. capacity.

I would get the bars. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee without the bars the back end drops about 4 inches. with the bars it does not move plus it will give you a better ride. My jeep drop with the trailer empty so just imagine if you load the trailer and the back of your tow vehicle.

Congrats on the new TT. Enjoy!
My wife and I also research for a year looking at many different models before deciding on the Spree Escape E204S and in hindsight we don't regret the decision. It's the right TT for our current needs and we've looking forward to our first trip (NY to FL) at the end of the month.

Just about any tow vehicle with independant rear suspension will be "soft" in the rear end, regardless of gross vehicle weight rating. My 2011 Sante Fe won't even take the weight of my trailer well enough to move it around the yard, without the bars. Be sure to get the right one as there are many types and classes within the genre of hitch.
