Hi, this Garmin seems to be what we are looking for, but wanted to get a backup camera for it. I wanted to just use a temporary hookup for a camera, maybe mount on the back rack. Garmin recommends the BC30 but I know nothing about it and could find no other recommendations online. Just looking for some input and maybe a little installation guidance. Please, all input positive or negative about this GPS is welcome, as well as recommendations for a camera.
Thanks Bob

Can't comment on the Garmin 770LMT but we have the Garmin 760LMT with the BC20 backup camera. I understand the 770 is a newer version. I would guess the BC30 camera is an update to the BC20 also. We've had our setup for about two and a half years and are happy with it. I permanently mounted the camera on the back of the trailer and ran the cable for the Transmitter to the front of the trailer. Signal from the transmitter to the GPS unit has never been a problem. I wired the camera to come on whenever I turn on the parking lights. That way I can turn on the camera to look backwards while driving. If you buy the Garmin, suggest you also purchase the lifetime update option. It's worth it..

I see that the BC20 is still available for my RV760. That would probably be nicer than my current Chinese knockoff that I got for 90 bucks!
Larryo, I see that there's a wired transmitter required for the camera? Where did you mount your camera and transmitter? The Chinese one I have has the transmitter built into the camera so there was only 1 piece to mount.
Thanks!

I mounted the camera on the back of the trailer so it is not real obvious unless you are looking for it. (it's mounted in the middle of the "T" in Sportsmen) The camera comes with a shielded cable that connects it to the transmitter. I chose to mount the transmitter at the front of the TT to minimize the distance of the wireless connection to the GPS display. So far, after two and a half years, the camera and the GPS unit work great. Attachments:

How was the install? I did not know the transmitter was an option. Is your install permanent? Any details on the installation would be very much appreciated. Thanks Bob

Did you use anything on the back so the wire wasn't flapping around?

90% sure Garmin's cameras are from overseas. I remember talking to Garmin early next year about their cameras and other manufacturers. They said as long as it matches the camera inputs of the Garmin GPS, it should work. Tadi Bros also said the same.

I have the Garmin 770 and the BC30 works with it. How is the image on the 770? How about the wireless reception. How did you mount it? I plan on just hanging to the license plate on the rear of the 5th, and remove it when I'm finished with it. Thanks

Has anyone tested this without running the transmitter close to the tow vehicle. Just curious if the signal is strong enough. I think I want to have a temp solution as well and store it when not using.

So you ran the transmitter cable down under the RV and to the front? Did you use anything on the back so the wire wasn't flapping around? Yes, I ty wrapped the cable to the underside of the TT. On the back I covered the cable with white gorilla tape. Tape sticks great and helps camouflage the black cable against the white surface.

I am a little confused when it comes to the 760 ($999) and the 770 ($399). Cannot seem to find a solid comparison. And to add to the confusion, if you go to the garmin site and select automotive/RV it only shows you the 770 and the 660. What happened to the 760? Also when you use garmin's compare feature using the 770 and the 660, the 660 has tons more features and is $70 cheaper. The 770 has a larger screen but in the additional features area, the 660 again seems to have more features. So now I am really confused. Thought you might be able to help. What happened to the 760?

LOL i just ran camera to the bike mount on camper and ran wire along underbelly and attached to battery with a toggle switch. If I can do it, anybody can. Happy camping.

This thread is a bit old but I'll add that we have a Garmin 760 and bought a BC20 camera for it. The image is quite grainy and washed out looking and am not happy with it. I mounted the transmitter at the front of our Spree in the cabinet above the bed so it isn't that far to the GPS. I ran the wiring between the camera & transmitter 100% concealed in the ceiling space. The power wire from the 7-way connector to camera was run under the frame.
