I am a new RV'er and I've read my manual for the Spree Escape and I didn't see anywhere when I should level my TT before or after the slide is out. Also, if the electric switch should fail, how will I be able to bring the slide in manually?

Always level first and yes there is an manual override. The override is accessed thru a hole in the skirt opposite the slide and there should be a wrench supplied for this purpose. All these items should have been gone over with you by your dealer at delivery. I have been rving for 30 years and my dealer still required me to do a full walkthru and show and tell when I picked up my new unit last summer.

Thank's RV'ers for the insight. I am pretty sure they went over it with me but it was a lot of stuff they went over with me. I must have forgotten. So, level the TT first and then extend the slide. I've noticed that when the slide is out, the TT tends to lean to that side. Is that normal (level)? Or should I buy some supports for the slide out?

Never put supports under the slide. You might want to keep the slide side slightly higher when you setup so that it comes level when you run the slide out.

I looked at the Escape features and it states 2 stabilizer jacks. I assume they are on the back. You might want to install 2 in the front also if not already there.

My dealer never went over a manual override either. There was a lot to learn though, and this was our first RV. Fortunately, the 196S is at least usable with the slide in. Stuck out would be tricky though!

I have been camping since I was 2 years old and always would work next to pops while setting up and repairing the TT. When we upgraded to our new KZ i brought a video camera with and recorded the entire walk through to reference back to. I then watched it when I got home and made labels for things that I might not remeber and put them on the area related to it.. Just a thought. Happy Camping!
Check out the thread abou tthe KZ Rally and factory tour this October!

Update Rv'ers, I went to the Rv Show in Novi, MI yesterday and ran into my salesman. I asked him about the manual over ride for the slide and happen so my Spree was there. Once he showed me I was like yeah that's right. FYI for the ones who don't know or forgot. The manual is in the INSIDE of the TT underneath the table skirt. Honeymooners, I should've bought a camera. Hope to see yall at the KZ Rally in October!

i too have the 196s and was wondering the same question, so i will be looking for the over ride myself, the dealer also never explained, nor had any ideal how it worked, said if it breaks bring it back in, hard to do when it,s stuck open for 200 miles.

I also have a e196 with the dinnete slide and the dealer never went over its manual override with us. Nor was a wrench supplied for this. There is no external access the tiny little motor underneath the skirt inside the trailer and it appears one would need six foot arms to reach it. Any ideas as to how this is operated manually?

I have a Sportsmen 30TH, but I would think they would be the same. Look on the outside of the passenger side frame rail for a rod/nut sticking thru the frame. This will manually crank the slide out.

196s. Manual slide access under slideout skirt on inside. Takes a 5/8" socket and 17" extension.
