OK, I am looking at the LCC and I have this black hose inlet for the tank flush. Now, the manual says this: Attach a fresh water hose to the base connection marked "Sewer Tank Flusher (:Mine says "Tank Flush") Be sure termination valves are open on the holding tank(s) (:I am assuming this is the drain pull handle or dump valve for a lack of a better phrase) Open valve to release water into the tank for rinsing and cleaning of your waste holding tank. ( Do they mean turn on the hose water that I hooked up to the black connection? ). I might have worded that a little differently. Anyway I don't make assumptions. You do not want to hear what my wife says my ailment is (-:
1. Can I use the outside shower supply as a connection hose to the Black Tank flush inlet?
2.It would seem to me that may do a better job if I fill it up a little bit first. So maybe I should I keep the termination valve open of course, but maybe keep the 3" gate valve on the 3" drain pipe closed? Some do not have the gate valve I know. It would seem that if you could fill up the black tank a little bit it might help clear out some the stickies, but maybe I am over thinking.
Is is just me or is the k-z tutorial for this just a little bit fuzzy?
I have my rig parked in my driveway and I am trying to go through all the motions before we get to our first camping site.
Any help would be a blessing!

bob52,
First when the trailer is in use ALWAYS keep the black tank gate valve closed. When you are ready to drain the black tank hook a water hose to the "tank flush" connection. ALWAYS use a different hose than your fresh water hose to eliminate cross contamination. Open the black tank gate valve and then turn on water for the tank flush. After the flow of water/waste has slowed down in the sewer hose close the gate valve. Water under normal pressure will flow at about 3-4 gallons per minute. Let the water fill the tank for about 5 minutes (15-20 gallons), then open the gate valve. Let the water/waste drain. Repeat this procedure several times to flush the black tank. When you are satisfied with the results, turn off the water and let all the flush water drain from the black tank then close the gate valve.
To answer your other question, yes you can use your outside shower hose to do this but I would not recommend it.
And yes the manual is about as clear as mud..... and all manufacturers are not just KZ.

They say that you should always have your black tank valve open when using the flusher. This is to prevent a pressure buildup in the black tank in case your vents are blocked. The way these new tank flushers are designed, there is supposed to be a back-flow preventer built into them at the highest point. I posted a picture of the setup some time ago. There "shouldn't" ever be any cross contamination. I did put that in quotes because it's theoretical, use advice at your own risk. kzfamilyforum.com/thread/931/black-tank-flush

Thank you jetzen and johnr, that works for me. I never thought of running the flush at the same time I open the Termination valve (Black Tank Valve) and the Gate Valve. Just a couple of clarifications to insure I have the terminology down.
1.jetzen "Gate valve" is the valve on the Sewer pipe? 2.johnr "Black Tank Valve" is the Termination Valve or the Black handle pull, which opens the Black tank to the sewer pipe?

OK so you are talking about pull cable. OK very good. Some have used the same term "Gate Valve" but were talking about the addon which you put at the end of the sewer pipe. Sounds good, thanks! I think I will call it the termination valve (-: Bob

I meant to put at the end... but you know the kinds of things that "they" say. But I forgot. I was just stating the manufacturer recommendation even though I believe most of us will run the flusher to fill the tank with some water. I will run it with the black valve closed and haven't had an issue to date.

I agree, I drain black tank first, close valve, fill tank again an I don't open the black water value/pull handle till I feel there is about 5 or 6 gallons of water in the tank an then drain again an repeat till I see clean water ... I also dump a couple of bags of ICE every so often when On the road between camp grounds if i'm out a month or so, thus more or less clean the junk off the sides if there is any. You wouldn't believe what you see after doing such, you may think that tank is clean, guess again, as well I add a pod of Tide detergent Safe Travels Chuck

jetzens routine is the most common. I'll add after I flush and waters nearly clear, I close the gate valve & add about 5 gallons water. My black tank is never completely empty. I believe that some water traveling will help break up any remaining solids. Here's some black tank flush tests. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfTd0Slt_cU

And yes you can use your shower connections to rinse out the tank as well. My dealer recommended it - use hot water from connection really cleans it out nice - and yes there is a backflow preventer etc already there (at least on the newer models)
