Greetings everyone!
I'm new here and just joined as I have fallen in love with the KZ line! I'm a seasonal camper in Massachusetts and have seen many rigs and found the KZ to be sweet.
This morning, I'm heading out to put a deposit on a new 2013 280BHSS. My question is this...is there anything I should have done while they prep the rig? It's on order now (Mid Feb arrival) and I'll have a couple of months before this white junk leaves the ground, should I purchase/install anything special. I'm looking into a roof ladder and a slide-out awning. I want to protect her since my site is under a few pine and oak trees.
Found the site very informative thus far. Been poking around quite a bit
Thanks for the help!
Bob

I would go with the slide cover. I.m on my second KZ 5th wheel and always had slide covers and they do keep the junk off the slide. All 5ers seem to come with ladders but if it didn't I would have ordered one. It is so handy to have one in place when you want to get on the roof.

Thanks Shortlance!
I'm waiting to hear from the dealer on how much the slide cover is. He said there were several options so he was going to price them all out.
I pulled the trigger this morning. Everything fell into place...right interior, right price and right salesman. She's being setup the next 2 weeks and will be ready to haul the end of Feb. Can't wait!
Thanks for the info about the slide-cover!

I don't see a ladder as an option on the Show Stopper line. Be sure that the wall has support built in before ordering one. Also, ask if you have a "walk on" roof. A better idea, for any trailer, is to stay off the roof if at all possible. A folding ladder will allow you to move it to the area you want and do most things while staying off the roof. Since you have a seasonal site you could use a household step ladder and keep it under the trailer.

On my 2013 S280BHSS I had the stock "C" channel removed and had the dealer weld in square hitch tube as I didn't like like the flex in the "C" channel on the 4 corner stabilizer jacks. I also added an outdoor shower, outdoor speakers to the radio, and electric jack, and got rid of the crappy thermostat and installed a digital one. Much more accurate as the stock one had a 5+ degree temp swing. I would also ask the dealer if the have the white rubber brush on coating in a can (sorry, cannot remember the name of it right now) and have them (or you) apply several coats over the factory caulking on the roof. It will help keep the caulk from breaking down from the UV.
Check out the "New Topics" tab for the KZ Rally and factory tour info this fall!

Honeymooners,
Great ideas...thanks. Going to ask them about that brush on stuff when I go to pick it up. Hoping this impending blizzard doesn't mess the pickup date up. Damn winter lol!

Congrats on the new purchase. We're still a ways away from camping weather (might take you a month to dug out from under the snow you're getting today) but I hope you have some great experiences come Spring. Enjoy!
